From a flirtbox member - one off post under false name for obvious reason.

I know I shouldn't do this and that there is a fair chance that this thread will get removed but right now I'm in a bad place and need to have a rant.

I've just come off the phone after being told that a good friend of mine has suffered a massive heart attack and died. He was a fit and healthy 29 year old man with two kids, good job, nice life and a lot of friends. The cause of the heart attack ?
One line of coke.
He wasn't a regular user just a line here and there when it's offered and like the rest of us he never thought it would be him next but he was. I gave it up about 5 years ago for a host of reasons but thinking that I could be the next one to die wasn't one of them. Tonight I'm thinking 'Lucky escape.'.

So for anyone who reads this and still thinks they won't take the drop please please please - Think again.

Sorry to hear about that..that is very sad. At the end of the day we are all masters of our own destiny's, and I don't suppose all the beer I've drunk has done me any good. A wasted life, but a lesson to us all.

Over the last 30 years, I've probably drunk as much as everyone on flirtbox put together..I regret it a little. I've abused my body a bit more then I should have. Not smoking or drugs though.

A 29 year old man especially with 2 kids should have known better, I'm sorry but I feel no remorse for people who do drugs and die.

Flame me if you like, but you all know its the truth.

I wouldn't have flamed you Bernard but for your last bit about knowing it's the truth. Whilst the guy should have shown a little more responsibility, I still sympathise with his demise.

I've no idea how this guy got into drugs but not everyone does it out of boredom! Lots of youngsters get pulled into not knowing the full risks, or believing they'll be the one that doesn't get hooked.

We don't know the circumstances, so give at least the poster some sympathy for his loss if you can't find it for the guy that died.

My sympathies to you 'lifewasted'. It's awful to lose someone you're close to at the best of times, but one so young.... Sad

I feel sorry for your friends family! None of us can understand what it feels like till it happens to us!

Ringer2 i agree and disagree (This next couple of lines isnt meant as a flaming to anyone just me voicing my own opinion, just to make that clear!)

I dont know how many of u know this but i work at HMP Manchester formally known as Strangeways. For the past year and 2 months i have worked in the CARATS Office. We are basically the people who work with Drug & Alcohol prisoners. Getting them on courses and getting them on Subscriptions! Though you say u feel no remorse for what he has done and yes i can agree with you on that i also disagree!
The reason's i agree are as simple as this, there is help out there i know there is, there are two centres just outside Manchester Prison; Glentop House & Add-action, there is help everywhere! Some might say that it is selfish that he took drugs as he didnt think of his familys feelings!
The reason i dont agree with you is because i know how hard it is for people to give up! At manchester there was a guy who i can only imagine has passed away now who used to inject so much he has had one of his legs amputated due to gangre! So u would have thought that might be anough to stop him taking drugs.....Wrong! He injects in the other leg and what happens? Gangre! I feel honestly sorry for him! He addiction is that bad!
I know this might sound mad but drugs is a well paid business to be in, i know there is one guy in the north west area who single handedly changed the price of Heroin on the streets of Manchester! Supposedly he has some rather nice house and when released from prison is usually picked up by a couple of vehicles! Its a mad world! Ok i will agree there are general bag heads who dont care for anything. But some of them have had real S**T lives and i mean real real bad, the sort of thing i wouldnt wish upon my worst enemies!

I feel sorry for his kids, wife & relations!

Regards

Si P

sorry to hear this but shit happens..out of a percentage of the population your going to get some who react to drugs, about 10-20 peoeple die each year from a reaction to aspirin. Coke esp. is seen as a 'safe' drug cos celebs, rock stars do it & it has a certain glamour to it, personally i think its so overrated just turns you into an egotisical coke wanker for about 30 mins, its for people who can't take real drugs like E or Ket where you know you've took something, it could've been the quality of the coke & what its been adulterated with, but that sure is a tragedy if he did one line & it killed him.
