Thought i would start this for small questions that people might have, that dont really warrant a whole topic to themselves as such.

Ok so my first question is this....

I have a favourite pair of jeans, and the riveted metal button came off them yesterday, when i had undone them it just came off in my hand. Is there somewhere i can get this button, or another riveted button put back on?

I dont want to throw these great jeans away, they are my faves Sad

Good Idea...

As for your jeans I'd think any dress making place or somewhere that does alterations should be able to help you Scottie

There is a little kit that does this job - the kit comes with the studs and a plastic tool the 'presses' the 2 halves of the studs together. I haven't had to buy one for ages and have no idea what it is called, but I do remember I bought the last one I had from Wilkinsons and cost about £3

I want to move the television in my living room but the cable for virgin isnt long enough. I phoned virgin and they want £75 for an engineer to come out and do it Evil or Very Mad Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the cable yourself from somewhere? I asked if they could provide some cable because it was rediculous that they hadnt left enough cable on it, but they said no, it'd have to be done by an engineer.

I'd be grateful of any help

I'm not familiar with virgin but I expect it's just normal coaxial cable. Look down the ide of the cable for a description of what it is but you should be able to pick up some cable from any electrical shop such as curries, comet etc along with the connectors. You should then be able to easily make up an extension. Hope this helps cheeks Smile

I seem to remember that Maplins sell both long rolls of the kind of cable you need, and also sell various lengths with the connectors already on the ends. Even more uselful (although a little more expensive) they also do wireless multimedia routers (or whatever they're called) that work with cable tv. There's bound to be a Maplins near where you live.

Also, if you get the Sunday Times next weekend, look through the supplements for an ad for a wireless wotsit for cable tv, there's always the same ad every weekend and they're pretty good value.

Im looking for ideas for my sons packed lunch. He is back to school on Tuesday and im desperate for ideas for a filling packed lunch for him (he is a growing lad). Bread and pastry not allowed.. as he has coaliac's (allergy to gluten) Any ideas anyone? My list comprises of salad, fruit, spuds, eggs and gluten free pasta so far. Any ideas for a cold potato snack or pasta?

Tesco and Sainsbury have a great free-from range with all kinds of goodies that are healthy. Health food shops too have a lot of wheat free snacks. Smile

Thx 8legs. Was hoping to keep away from them though, as he really does not like much of it. As soon as I get to those sections in the supermarket, he drags me away saying how much he dislikes it all (and we have tried most of them) Sad The only special products he will eat from there is the pasta.

How about this Kizz, not sure about the bread, but maybe you can adapt. High in protein but not much fat.

Turkey Burger for 4 people

Ingredients:
250g (8 oz) extra lean minced Turkey.
1 small grated onion.
2 small courgettes.
1 teaspoon soy sauce.
1 egg.
50g (2 oz) breadcrumbs.
50 g (2 oz) Oatmeal.
Pepper

Extras:
4 granary rolls.
Tomato and red onion relish.

1, Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Cover and leave in a bowl in a fridge for 30 mins. Divide the mixture into 4 and shape the burgers in your hand.

2, Preheat the grill to medium. Line a grill rack with foil and arrange the burgers on it. Cook for 6 – 7 minutes each side until thoroughly cooked.

3, Serve with granary roles, tomato and onion relish.
