Lets hope for Ringers sake he doesn't lose someone close over the next few weeks and come in here looking for support and sympathy. |
I wouldn't want your sympathy or support thank you
If I lost a friend through drug abuse I would certainly not come here or on any other board and ask for sympathy/support.

I agree with what ringer has said here though ... its not something i would share with 'internet' friends

Well I lost my brother to a drugs overdose when he was 26 and my dad to an alcohol-related cancer so I have sympathy for this guy.
Our lives dont always turn out the way we planned and sometimes we make one wrong decision which ultimately shapes the rest of our lives.
We dont know anything about this guys background or what he was like, apart from the fact that he did coke, but we can't judge him solely on that.
p.s. I'm not looking for sympathy either just showing empathy

Sorry for your loss.
Let's just hope some good comes from it, perhaps it'll steer his kids clear from ever wanting to experiment.
I know it seems to have simmered down, but I don't want any abuse from anyone in here. I happen to think Ringer's got a completely valid point, even if it's more radical than just offering sympathy. This is a discussion board, and will get varying points of view - especially when it comes to drugs. Do not come here and not expect people to have views that match yours.

well i can see that me posting that i am deeply sorry for the loss his family have suffered would be a waste of time. even though it is true. i have all the sympathy in the world for them.... as you all know i recently lost someone to heroin. it's not an easy loss to bear. but all this is moot. and the reason it is moot is because the topic has gone way way WAY off from where it first started. there have been many varied points mentioned here. and it is not our place to condemn someone for the way they see things or for the way in which they voice their views. i for one think there have been quite enough witch hunts here lately. this is a discussion board. the whole thing is based on differing opinions. if we all agreed we may as well for-go the posting of any topics, safe in the knowledge that everyone would agree with us and tell us how right we are. it is the differing opinion...that one complaint in the millions that stands out. the one voice who says "no i'm sorry i don't agree with you" that makes this place what it is. and you should all appreciate that. there is no better passtime than debating, expressing our views, voicing our points and trying to convince the other that we are in fact right, immaterial of whether we are or not.
ok rant over.
just wanted to put MY opinion across.

What complete and utter arse, both these comments.
My OPINION is that for somebody not to care that the chap died shows complete disregards for the people that have been left behind. Without going metaphysical, the guy is dead - what you think of him is irrelevant to him; however what you say about him will matter to those that are left behind.
I'm sorry Bernard that you feel that taking a line of coke is so morally reprehensible that you have to take your stand.
Heystraw, I just think your comment is very harsh; maybe it just comes across that way?

Well that is your opinion and your entitled to it just as I am mine.

No body has said they don't feel any sympathy for the original poster or for the family the guy left behind.
The reason this post has gone overboard is because 1 person expressed their own opinion of the guy that died. Any death is a loss regardless of the circumstances, but in the end a person that gambles with their life and looses has no one else to blame but themselves.
Maybe what Bernard said came across as harsh to a few people including the original poster. And also some people are taking Bernards words personally. But he just expressed his view that he did not feel sorry for the guy as he was the one that took the risk.
We're all here to express a view. Bernard did nothing wrong in expressing his. It may appear that way but I personally believe he didn't. Maybe it could of been worded differently. I'm not here to judge him or anyone else for that matter. But as Aradon said, freedom of speech is a great thing.
I feel though that if this post continues as it is it should be locked.

Ringer merely stated his personal opinion, he has since been personally attacked, something that is NOT allowed.
Cut out all this horse-play or i'll have this thread locked. Learn to accept that not all people think along your own lines and you'll find that we'll all get on much better.
Final warning for this thread.

You're not a bad old bean from the looks of things Ringer, and I guess I did get carried away. My apologies for that. I guess we both felt strongly about the same thing, it was just unfortunate that they were totally opposing view points.

Apology accepted bud.
Things like this do occur now and again whatever the debate/subject, and it does get heated at times.
But if we can all remain friends (well at least on-lin friends) at the end of the day then that's fine
07.11.2006, 09:56 quote
I don't think theres anything wrong with a heated debate now and again, it shows people are passionate about a particular subject and thats a good thing. We just need to remember not to get carried away and attack someone that does not agree you. Easier said than done though I admit.
We just need to agree to disagree on some things as we'll usually agree on something else.
So lets all shake hands or ther'll be detention
