Not really. Just bored. Very bored. Alas I always look on the darker side life, though becoming aware of my character defects leads me naturally to the next step - blaming my parents.

Kalamity - depression usually goes hand in hand with boredom - too much time to think and analyse life. You need to get busy to lift those spirits!

Busy, busy busy, like a bee! Plus finishing uni is a downer. I still haven't recovered - all that lovely beer, women, socialising and free time - and I left last century!

Suffered with it for years now, some days are OK while others are so deep there seems to be a bottomless pit your going down.

Ringer, yeah once new someone at uni who suffered from true depression.

People find it hard to understand the condition, thinking people should be able to just shake it off. As you know, it doesn't work like that.

Most nights I will have a few beers (not supposed to really and I don't get hammered) to help cheer me up somewhat, it seems to help there and then, but the problem is back with me when I wake up the next day.

So I just keep taking the tablest as precscribed.

I'm glad I have the internet 24/7 that can sometimes help a little Smile

How does the sleeping go? I find that I'm waking up at 4 am when I have similar problems...too early to get up... The lack of sleep just adds to it.

Sleeping is always interrupted about 2 to 3 times a night, but i don't get up until between 8 and 9am each day, I wrestle to get back to sleep sometimes, it's bloody frustrating Mad

Yeah, except that doesn't work with clinical depression. That's why most people just say "cheer up!" as if it were a solution. Clinical depression switches itself on and off at will. You could be in the middle of the happiest day of your life, yet just can't feel good about anything.

I have several medical problems (which I am not going to go in to) and they certainly contribute to my depression, the only thing I can do is take medication, which sometimes helps but sometimes not.

I'm in a no win situation tbh Sad

I understand what your going through bernard, I was depressed for a long time without really knowing it until I all came to ahead & had some sort of breakdown which was the darkest abyss I wish on no-one & all i can described is that your thoughts slowly disintergrate into one singualrity point in thinking just one horrid thought going round in your head that 'fuck! , this it, I wanna die' believe me when you been to a point like that in your head everything in life is a plus, looking back all i can do is take positives from what happened & always think things happen for a reason..i saw it as a breakthrough other than a breakdown, its all about balance in your life (yin yang), if you do too much partying & living in the fast lane you pay back somewhere down the line. Learning about buddhism helped alot not the really heavy stuff which my brother is into, it sort of opened me up to a more spiritual way of thinking. Also try & turn your negatives into positives. Cycling & long walks in parks/countryside i find help alot, it is well documented that light exercise helps depression, as a species we don't work the land anymore & phsyiological are designed to do so (hunter gatherers)not alot has changed over the last 1000yrs or so in our bodies just our thinking & with technology advancing at such a rate have more & more done for us & have more leisure time to ourselves, which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you do with your sparetime. All i can say that as human beings & as communities we need structure but this is an entirely new topic & I'm going off the thread a bit now.
