any advice on how to intro myself to the ladies? all i tend to say is hiya, how are you? etc. i think its dull and boring, and im thinking this is the reason why there is no reply to my msgs

I am but one woman of many on here, so I can only reply from my own personal point of view, and try to be helpful with it.
Yeah to be honest, no offense love, but hi how are you is dull and boring and thats just the sort of pm I tend to hit 'delete' when I get them.
I can tell you what catches my eye/interest when I man writes me - he uses my name (id) in his message, and he comments on summat I've written in my profile, that way I get the impression he's actually read my profile and liked what he saw.....rather than just a lame Hi how are u? You get to recognise the "copy & paste and hope to strike lucky with one of them" brigade.
PS also ending with a question (that requires more than yes or no) gives her summat to respond with and gets the dialogue going.
Hope that helps and good luck!

isnt complimenting her enough? i mean on her looks? |
Nope.
They all do that.
Before I even had my pic up I had LOADS that said "You are beautiful", "I think you are really pretty", "Hi Sexy" etc.
It just isn't personal.
Sorry. I guess if you wrote "Hi Jane/whoever, I think you have lovely eyes" or summat like that it would show that you hadn't just done copy&paste?
Also, if you simply send a compliment, however sincere, what's the girl to do? Write back and say "thanks".....kind of a dead end there. Unless you are fishing for compliments back I guess she could reply "and I like your smile/eyes" -- not much scope for real convo to get to know someone is it?
Open ended questions and show you've actually read the profile (not just gawped at her pic) and address her by name.
Good luck and have fun! x

I think your description might put a few girls off too. It doesn't say a lot apart from the fact you're ugly and a virgin. If you feel you are ugly you send out negative messages and not many people will want to spend time boosting your confidence/ego. If you don't mention that (no matter how you feel about yourself) you come across as more positive. So have a think about changing that bit.
No offence but if i received a message from you and looked at your profile i wouldn't reply.

Beeejeeezieees man!!! I hadn't looked at your profile til I read Bex post - get that off quick! Do you work at Verbal Suicides R Us? You must have writ than when you were either pissed (and pissed off) or the Prozac hadn't kicked in yet.
Sorry dont mean to sound harsh and of course thats just my weird sense of humor going into overdrive......
Ok, look love - no one needs to know you are a virgin - I'm not saying its a bad thing you need to hide - heck I'm a Catholic and that impresses me, I'm even thinking of pm-ing you in a mo!!
Unless you are looking for a young lady to de-flower you - Leave it out, no one needs to know!!!
You';ve listed "Anything Except love" as one of the things you are looking for, after all........
As to the ugly bit.
Well, I know its not a good photo of you love but I can't see two heads or horrible massive great warts on yer 6 noses...........if you honestly think you are ugly then you better have a darn good personality to shine through on your profile!!!!!!
And always remember - it's not what you think about you that counts in this online dating game - its what the ladies think about you that's going to get them falling at yer feet.
"Interests" means things like reading car manuals, hiking, photography, sailing....whatever floats your boat.
Ugliness and virginity ain't 'interests' in anyone's vocabulary.
You seem like a really nice guy - wipe your profile clear and start again - with the just the positive interesting stuff!!!!!

Ok sunshine - at whose expense did you think you were having a laugh?
This site is full of genuine peeps who have *real* low self-esteem, and people like me give their HONEST STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART REAL EMOTIONS feedback, to try to help them.
You have a pretty sick sense of humor - and by the way, having a pic up AND writing that *you think* you are 'good looking' is going to put a lot of women off.
Shame on you.

I'm staying off this thread from now on.
You've seriously done a dis-service to genuine guys and maids out there.
I have nothing more to say to you except what I already said:
Shame on you.

Rocketgirl....calm down please.
As much as it annoys some people when people seem to be not very genuine, users are free to put what they like on their profile (within reason and as long as it doesnt break any of the site rules). He had maybe tried the genuine way and wasnt getting anywhere so tried to see if the sympathy vote would work. Who knows but it is not for us to judge. I note that you have now changed your profile shaggyfest and it definately reads a lot better. Why not try filling in the enhanced description bit and tell people a bit more about yourself |
ok, thanks for the advice, cazzabee
