I urgently need some advice please, Renaldo.

I am a farmer, trying to cross a river in my small boat. I have with me a fox, a chicken and a bag of grain. Unfortunately, my boat is so tiny that I can only take one of these things with me on each trip. I evidently can`t leave the fox alone with the chicken or the chicken alone with the grain...so what can I do to get everything safely across the river?

take the chicken across first, then the grain, but bring the chicken back with you, then take the fox, then take the chicken

Next problem - There are 3 lightbulbs in my cellar, with the 3 switches outside at the top of the stairs. I need to find out which switch operates each bulb, but I am only allowed to enter the cellar once. What can I do?
