My favourite quote is up on the wall in a local pub.

"No smoking"

Simple, but effective.

My mother used to say to me "there are three things never come back to man - the sped arrow, the spoken word, and the lost opportunity". I have trotted that one out so many times in the last 30-odd years LOL

I checked it once in a quotes dictionary, and it's not quite right, but I think I prefer her version...

"This is all I have, life.... And to die over something as vaguely childish as rock 'n' roll is not on. Even though there's a lot of popularity in Sid's character, the people who buy the Sid myths... [t]hey're wasters.... I'm not part of that. I never was. I'll always go out and make sure it gets better. That's the difference between the Sid fanatic and the John Lydon Appreciation Society. Life and death! There's nothing glorious in dying. Anyone can do it"

John Lydon aka jonny rotten

Leave that which you doubt for that which you do not doubt, for truth brings tanquility while falsehood sows doubt.

Rolling Eyes
Here's one to get us started:

Nothing lasts forever; not even your troubles.

I do the same. Wow, maybe I'm not as strange as I thought!
I've got 4 txt files of em (mostly cynical)

My last quote is a rough arabic translation and though it could be interpreted as dissuading empirical investigation in its rough english translation, its context is some what different. Rather its context refers to conficting opinions where you are not sure of the empirical certainty of set oppinion but yet it does not sit well in your heart. Its rather like trying to define good; we can give example but we cannot come up with a universal accepted definition. Yet certain moral codes sit well with your heart and yet others don't. The majority of this emanates from culture, beliefs, etc but there is also an instinctive core. Sorry but often meaning and context can be lost in translation.

Heres another translated arabic quote:

Sufficient for you to be called a liar if you narrate everything you hear.
