ok, tell me what they want without lying
22.11.2007, 19:45 quote
1) a good sense of humour/personality
2) honest
3)good looking
4)clean (showers at least once a day)
5)smells nice
6)independant
So honestly - money is the last thing i'd look for in a man - although i'll be perfectly honest here, he would need to have a job, no matter if it was minimum wage

wow, quite refreshing to see that not all women are moneygrabbing etc....
as if i did say the man has got to be a lazy slob, the day i stop working or want to stop working, is the day i die, not to say i wouldnt like a holiday
22.11.2007, 22:21 quote
Me too.
Money doesn't interest me all that much.
Heck, we'd all like a bit more hey not saying I actually *want* to live under charing cross bridge in a cardboard box, but I probably would for love......I believe in equality between the sexes when it comes to money in this day and age - and hey I went to the pub with a chap tonight and he let me buy the first round - rock on!

well its just that some girls expect to live a life of luxury when spouting "i need security" marlarky, then go to shop everyday of the week, then expected to be treated like royalty, then dump a person when the cash runs out or make a miserly excuse in marriage to divorce a person

Sadly, you are absolutely right - I know of a few like that.
I think - and hope - that today's culture/society is changing in the way of what women learn to expect from a man - like say in the 50s it was def the role of the man to bring home the bacon so his missus could spend it (that's just a stereotype by the way) - but I still know a few ladies who equate "I need security" with "Have you got enough cash in yer wallet for that lovely pair of shoes to add to my Imelda collection" - personally, the word "security" (when spoken in the same sentence as "my man")
means trust and honesty.
But then, I got fleeced by my previous ex who got me to 'furnish our home'
and it wasnt til after we split up that I acknowledged he never ever in 5 yrs stuck his hand in his pocket -
then skipped off and married someone else and moved her in and left me in severe debt, so it's not just women who do it.....

You took the words right out of my mouth Claudia, dont get me wrong, i'm sure there are some girls out there who just look at the size of a man's wallet. As for me honesty, sense of humour, doesn't need 24/7 attention, and of course knows what he is doing in the bedroom .....................

To answer the original thread question:
- Money / property / car
- A nice shirt
- Mindreading ability
Seriously though, i think its all about how far into a relationship you go. If you are just going out with a girl, then you will find some girls arent that bothered if you dont have lots of money / property / a flash car, but if the relationship gets serious (i.e to the point of wanting to settle down and live together), then i definately think wealth becomes a major issue for alot of women. I suppose it is only natural, as women instinctively want to be with someone who can care and provide for them materialistically as well as emotionally, and for their kids (if they decide to have any).

What and women can't do that for themselves ????? sorry that's the independant women in me ............ i dont ask for anything from a man in regards to money, i have a very good job of my own and whatever he brings to the table, is a bonus. Please dont shoot me girls but i think it's the younger girl who likes the money side of the realationship, i only say this from friends experiences, the older woman tends to more financially independant so dont have to rely so much on the man for money. ............... x

I think the best way to get any woman to like you is to tell them you collect smurfs...........
(This might be why I'm single though)
I tell you the truth and this might not be well recieved............
I don't give a shit........that's my answer......
.......Don't like me because I don't have enough cash? Your loss........Don't like me because I can't quite live up to your stand up comedian act? Your loss........Etc Etc Etc....
Basicly I take everyone as they come good with the bad etc and I hopefully will meet someone that does the same. I am true to myself and I don't try and change people.
I don't want casual sex did too much of that when I was younger lol........erm moving on swiftly.....So that leaves me with wanting someone I can love and adore and hopefully recieve the same. If I do meet that special person I want them to like me for being ME! Not because I have lots of money or because I asked for advice on a forum about the best way into a girls heart.......
All of this doesnt mean you dont try your best for someone you like or care about of course it's best to dress nicely and wash yourself etc. And it's always nice to be a little romantic isnt enough of it around anymore. But just try not to push things in a direction that isnt you.
So bottom line is be yourself, write an in-depth profile telling everyone about you. When you see a girl you would like to msg due to picture/profile etc make the effort read the profile and don't just say: Hi want to marry me? (Erm I have done this but only because I have a warped sense of humour).
If you don't get a lot of replies or no one seems to take an intrest well that's life dont take it personally go out socialise with your mates, see a nice girl in a bar? Ask her a question always a good opener and then tell her your name and take it from there. Example: Hi I was wondering if I should have worn my red high heels tonight with this suit.........By the way my name is Gav.
Now please dont use what I just said I just have an odd sense of humour but it was just to give you an idea.
Good Luck to you and all others out there looking for fun, love, or friendship.

I agree with you 100% Anne-Marie. I'm more than capable of bringing up my kids alone and keeping up my mortgage payment on my 3 bedroomed home. I think i'd die if I had to rely on a man to do that for me
