women always want men to make them laugh, thats all good, coz i dont even know when i'm being funny and i make people laugh, but i do feel a lot of pressure to act the clown when in the company of a gorgous woman, for instance i met a girl on new years day and took her back to my flat, we were getting on really well but i did have at the back of my mind the worry of whether i was funny enough or not, i was so nervous about impressing her that i locked myself in the bathroom and we both had to kick from either side until the door bust open, and then i set fire to her handbag with a candle, but all this worked in my favour coz she found this all very amusing, it was all worth it though! coz she spent the night with me, last time i got laid that was, looks like i'm in for another dry spell 3 months later Crying or Very sad oh well Laughing

Oh yea!, you girls have got to make us laugh too, it works both ways you know, you cant just sit there laughing while we jump up and down on one leg Smile

Excellent post. Something to get your teeth into. Right here goes, in order of preference...

Confidence - Not arrogance. There is the finest of lines. A woman who is confident about her sexuality and knows how to use it is a massive turn-on. We're not talking about getting the tits out at the drop of a hat here, its way more subtle about that. Women who do that don't do anything for me, not because they're slutty (though that can work, done right), it just shows a complete lack of imagination. You want somebody that knows all the subtle cues and how to use them to the best effect. Done right it should be like a sexy game of chess between the two of you. Its all in the delivery, and for that you need...

Humour - A sharp wit coupled with confidence hits the spot every time. A challenge is deep seated in the male psyche. If you can exploit that with a bit of humour you won't go far wrong. Cockiness will win a man 99% of the time, even if you wing it. Think Cybill Shepherd in Moonlighting, thats your role model right there. A sense of humour is very powerful, and a great indicator of...

Intelligence - Now I'm not talking a deep understanding of string theory or the ability to recite the value of Pi to 8,000 decimal places here. Just good, honest intelligence. Emotional as well as intellectual. Or just call it the ability to sustain a good conversation. It all ties in to the challenge aspect. As much as we like to show off, men love to be challenged intellectually, again its all to do with the alpha male thing, if you're a challenge we automatically pull out all the stops to attain you (forbidden fruit and all that). If you have confidence and humour then intelligence is a forgone conclusion really, but its where you apply it that counts.

Vunlerability - Its an odd one this, but it works. There are a lot of women out there who still (thank God) appreciate men who are gentleman, and still have that old-fashioned idea of a knight in shining armour. However, if you're too confident then why do you need us? You have to expose a bit of flesh (metaphorically speaking) and give us a weakness, even if its just one. Rapunzel needs to let her hair down or shes going nowhere. This is another one of those things that goes straight to the core of the male psyche, it encourages our protective instinct on a very deep level. Of course, you can have too much vulnerability and that is turn-off straight away. Theres nothing worse than winsome women. As much as we like a challenge sometimes its not worth getting off the white horse for, because you know damn well you'll be saddling up again five minutes later. So yeah, have the odd skeleton in your closet, but don't have a cellar full of them. And while we're at it, lets not confuse this with false modesty, that sets off alarm bells in a mans head (if he has a clue) that suggests that all shes doing is fishing for compliments. Any woman that does that is after a lapdog not a man, and no man worth his salt wants to be a lapdog.

Wow, it's so rare to see a guy so articulate without rambling Very Happy If you were an OU student, you'd have passed the 3C's with that. Clear, concise and consistent Laughing

I have to agree on all 4 points in the male of the species too. Confidence but without being cocky; humorous, after all, a smile a day helps keep the doctor away and we all like to have someone we can converse with on our own level; and I think a lot of women like a certain amount of vulnerability in a man. It helps to focus our natural instinct to nurture.

I think most guys would say they want the woman to be herself and not pretend to be something they are not.

Hugs you are in no way shape or form a loser.
You are a kind hearted, wild sprited, beautiful woman with everything going for you. and the fact you have not hade much luck with guys lately is fates way of saying hold on this is not the one. one day when you least expect it you will find that person that smiles everytime you do, who listens to your every word and give you advice and support and it make compleat sense.
Someone who takes your breath away with their eyes as you do them.
Someone who makes your heart beat in your head and your stomach jump and wrech when your away from them. and when that day happens you will look back on this post and think what on earth was i worried about.

Hugs your a beautiful girl in every way believe in yourself and the world will smile wherever you go

Well I can only speak for myself, but what I want in a woman is firstly, obviously, she has to look and smell ok, should class themselves as 'a few extra pounds' (which means they're not skinny or fat, but comfortable with themselves), but also it's a bit deeper than looks.
Once I get attracted to someone I need to know that she isn't gonna start trying to get me to do stuff that I don't have an interest in, or stop me doing the things I AM interested in! I need to know that we can happily have little or no contact for a few days without getting worried that either of us has lost interest. She should be fairly intelligent (not a scientist etc but at least be able spell properly etc when not pished, and have an understanding of 'how things work'), and she should have a good sense of humour (that doesn't mean telling jokes all the time, or laughing at everything, but should be able to at least watch e.g. Seinfeld without needing jokes explained).

She should also fully understand that I am an arse for the following reasons;
I forget stuff.
I don't get emotional about things.
I can make a hurtful comment without even realising it, until explained several days later Embarassed
I like cars, I like watching motor racing on the tele.
I enjoy an occasional 9 holes of golf.
I enjoy smoking and drinking, maybe I should cut down a little, but don't try to encourage me to.
Although I'm 41 tomorrow I am still a kid at heart.
People say I like to moan about things - Well, I think I just say what everyone else is thinking usually!
I don't go to the cinema - I have a short attention span and have difficulty even watching a film all the way through at home - thank goodness they repeat films several times on cable.
I don't dance. Ever. Except for in the house by myself, when i'm pished.

And it's probably much the same for most guys - the list might differ in places but that's how it is.
Basically girls, if you like the look of a guy, and you can happily accept his faults without trying to change him, then it's worth a shot Smile

My god, you sound human!!

I have this thing that if I want more than 2/3 things to be different about a guy then i need to question why I'm with them, and I would hope it worked in reverse.

oh, and by the way, I'm quite sloshed now and oddly enough, my typing gets better!! Wink

I do have an extra bone in my foot that other people don't, but i think that just makes me a mild freak.

nah, that's nothing compared to my 2nd ex hubby. An extra bone in each little finger.. ie he had 2 fingers in one casing!! PLUS an extra finger on each hand. It's a genetic thing, runs in his family, web toes and feet, extra digits... *shudders* wierd lot!! Wink Laughing

In all honestly there isn't a certain type I gravitate toward as much as there are certain qualities I look for. I would like to be with someone that makes me laugh and I can hold a conversation with them. Someone who can hold my interest and be themselves.
