If you earn the money you can choose how to spend it I say. It only become a problem if you get into loads of debt.

I struggled to spend £35 on a pair of new work shoes today. I do not like spending I love saving (too scared of debt and can't be doing with too many possessions).

i hardly ever spend beyond my means, i hate being in any debt as it stays in the back of my mind, so i tend not to borrow money and go without what i am after until i have the money of my own to get what i wanted, its more satisfying that way as well.
