I have no idea what War Games is nor anything about computer programming- I guess I am out of that "nerd" loop. I'm nerdy in other ways

yeah, i really do not understand why people type like that... and i hope I never do.
and if i start to type like that, finish me off please |
mostly teenagers use text speak because then their parents cannot read anything they are typing to each other...
and i bet most parents would be surprised what the hell their kids are actually saying to each other..lol

The only thing is, kids forget that they then have to teach their parents to read the texts they send to mum/dad and they then can decipher the secret coded ones!

well yes..but they wouldnt be sending 'dodgy' texts to their parents..i think its more worrying when kids are using msn to speak to their mates, and the parents have no idea what is being said, especially as most parents dont sit over the childs shoulder at the time to ask..its like a code..
bit like how cockney rhyming slang started...so outsiders didnt have a clue what was being talked about/dodgy deals going on..lol

Once you've learnt a few, others aren't so difficult. My eldest is well into textese and insists on using it when texting me so i've picked a fair bit up. The girls won't let me near them now when they MSN 'cos I understand enough to work out what's being said

Actually, I tend to find it easier to understand what they've typed easier to understand than I do when they get around to opening their traps Intensive studying of vicky pollard is slowly letting me learn to understand chavesque, but I wouldn't consider myself fluent yet
