How many of you decent folk out there are concerned with life on the Street today?

I think we can make some changes.....

3 magic Commandments

#1 I propose that all children should be taught a martial art at school from the moment they start(learn self defence, self discipline, respect, awareness, confidence and fitness etc)
Martial art favours everyone:- fat,thin,tall,short,old,young etc.
Most of all it teaches you self discipline(the best kind)!
When was the last time you saw a Japenese or Chinese kid hanging around a Street corner hassling or mouthing off to passers by? They all grow up in School on a diet of martial arts.....

#2 Every child leaves school at 16 and does 2 years National Service.Not ever leaving the Country but instead working under Military rule,training and supervision on Community projects of every kind across the whole of the UK.
Upon finishing the 2 year Service they can opt to join the Military full time or go back to School/College/University FREE of charge without having to repay any Grants awarded.
OFFSET THE UNPAID MILITARY WORK FOR 2 YEARS EACH AGAINST ALL COSTS OF FURTHER EDUCATION.

#3 All Parents should take responsibility for their own kids, wake up all them out there who are 3rd and 4th generation dolesters! Get some ambition, get a job, get some self respect and teach your children manners,morals,principles etc
It is not any Governments responsibility to bring up your children, it's solely yours.
Remember- It's nice to be nice, but it's nicer to be nicer!

I'm tired, but here's a couple of quick thoughts.

commandment one: How does that explain Triads? Just because someone isn't hanging around on a street corner, it doesnt necessarily mean they are behaving nicely elsewhere...

commandment 2: Not every 'child' is suited, or mature enough at age 16, for military life...but, I have in the past thought National Service might lick some discipline into some kids....I dunno though. A thought.

commandment 3: I TOTALLY AGREE with this, but -- if commandment 3 were upheld, we wouldn't need commandment 2 would we? Or one really.

Oooh yes. And whilst we’re about it, let’s enforce a one child policy too.

Actually, let’s just sterilise everyone under a certain income bracket (or who hasn’t worked for a while), force feed anorexic teenagers, rip up all the roads in the country and banish cars (we could plant crops where the roads used to be, and force unemployed people to cultivate them), rip the lungs out of smokers, cut the feet off inconsiderate cyclists (anyone noticed how many idiots get their bikes out when the Tour de France is on?), poke the eyes out of people who watch porn ….. ooooh, the possibilities are endless …..

My, my, here we are, on a forum, a typical Thursday night in July, and we’ve solved all the social problems in the UK. What a clever bunch we are!

I was in the Irish version of the T.A.

A colossal waste of time and money, and full of wankers. The money would be better spent outfitting and training the Professional soldiers properly rather than frittering it away facilitating postmen with a napoleon complex. I don't know what the T.A. is like but i can't imagine it being all that different. I remember reading about British soldiers buying a lot of their own kit before being sent off to Iraq/Afghanistan because the stuff they were issued wasn't up to scratch. maintaining, upkeeping feeding, paying and equiping soldiers is expensive. Making a compulsory national service for a nation of 80 million would cost a hell of a lot! and you'd still get wankers arseing about society at the end of it.

Secondly I don't consider being roared at for not jumping into sheepshit quick enough particularly good life lessons to be honest with you. The Army breaks you down to build you up again, thats a harsh thing to do to a 16 year old who wouldn't even know who they are yet.

The martial arts idea isn't a terribly bad one though, get the wasters off the streets and into a gym or a community centre. Give them a sense of self pride and achievement that way.

I think you'll just end up with stronger fitter criminals.
