On Saturday night I attended an anarchist squat party in north London on Holloway Road hosted by Reclaim The Streets under the title of Reclaim the Future. For the first part of the night all went well. Inside there was plenty of entertainment with live bands, sound systems, comedians, info stalls and food for sale. The venue itself was massive with several large rooms and a large yard outside aswell.

At around 11pm though the police turned up in force and formed a barrier to stop any more people coming into the building there were already about 600 people inside by this time. Around 150 though were stuck outside. Though a few did manage to get in by going around the back of the block and climbing over walls and onto the roof of the building. It wasn't shut down, the police just blockaded the entrance and intimidated those outside who were trying to get in. They then push people up the road and made a couple of violent arrests of those who tried to get to the party venue. Around 3:30am though the police withdrew, by which time almost everyone who had turned up late for the party and found the place blocked off had gone home. The party continued inside until the morning.

The party was not in a house it was in an old taxi depot. So it had plenty of space. This was also a benefit party for various radical causes, it was three pounds entry. It was organised by Reclaim The Streets who put on massive unauthorised street parties years back in the mid to late 90s. Such as this one below on the M41 in West London in July 1996:

and what was the point of it all again? maybe it is just that people like to see results of something they have initiated themselves....but they might as well do something reasonable....and work in cancer research or whatever.

I wouldn't bother going to the job centre, they don't help you, pass you off to new deal, and the want you to give up your college course so you can go and sit in an office looking for jobs in the local paper. Gits.
