i dont want to offend anyone who makes these efforts, but what difference will a anti war protest in britain do to another countries war?
although i am also against the happenings in the gaza strips

but if students from another school said anything, about someone kicking someones ass in a different chool, theyd probaly be ignored..?

protesting against wars which involve us, i can see making a difference, just no this, but thats my personal view

Do you not think it might be possible for a person to protest on behalf of foreigners AND ALSO fight the corner of their compatriots?
I myself have in the past taken part in marches against other countries/foreign issues, and also taken part in marches against issues of my own country.
It seems to me what you are saying is that people should fight their own country's issues, and not support others.
Sorry I dont agree.
I also donate to international charities as well as national ones.
I suppose you are going to tell me to only give my money to local needy people and organisations and turn my back on my fellow human beings suffering abroad?
Pft, what nonsense.

Ah but kadushu, whoever survived/evolved in that time would just start all over again and fight and squabble and bring it all full circle.

Sasquirrel asks when anyone did something for their own country let alone others.
Hhhmm, well I used to every monday evening have a Local Agenda 21 meeting, we were instrumental at the time in getting the local govt in cornwall to create cycle lanes on roads to help improve cyclists safety, got local parks/athletics grounds etc to stop using certain bright lights at night which not only helped us see the stars but also helped bats and owls, ummm oh yes we secured SSSIs for bats and wild plants and buildings where bats lived, ummm oh yes we set up a local soup kitchen....yeah that was mondays, on fridays I had Amnesty International meetings, we wrote to presidents and wotnot around the world and had quite a bit of success helping to get innocent/political prisoners released/pardoned, some sadly posthumously, and I was also a letter-writing member in the run up to Nelson Mandela's release from jail.
I like to think I have done my bit and still try to wherever/whenever possible.
It matters not if it is an issue local to where I live or abroad. We are all dependent on one another as fellow human beings, and I include animal welfare here too.
Sometimes it is people in London or New York or wherever marching on the streets that are instrumental in helping to save the rainforests in Sumatra or the orang utans in Borneo or whatever.

[quote="sasquirrel"][ I never saw any protests against hamas rockets, i never saw any protests from you guys to sympathize with jewish victims... ??? but give it a go at least... solidarity is a good human virtue (good by definition even)... but are you showing solidarity for human life? or just palestinian human life?/quote]

Ah. I see.
Well, if it helps any, I give regularly (by standing order) to Jewish Care, and am a big supporter of Holocaust Day. An elderly friend of mine (passed away some years ago) was the first man liberated from Auschwitz. (no I am not jewish).
Also, as a member of Amnesty International I have written to leaders on both sides of this tragic situation, yes little old me haha I am certain no big honcho man has read my letters but at least I feel that I am 'doing my bit' on both sides.
I dont feel either side is better or more right than the other (given past and present behavior) I would just like to see the killing and hurt stopped.

Then you can't be in the picture, you can't even see the picture; you just know THERE IS a picture.
Newton's law. simple. action, - counteraction.
for somebody to solve this problem, the requirement is to produce an "action" whose "counteraction" equals peace, or no-killing.
This is the easy bit. The really hard bit, is when you hope humans strip themselves off their human nature, and start contradicting nature.
it has happened in the past, it will happen again, but i don't think it's appropriate to apply it to this kind of situation where human life losses are involved.
failure to find that "action" just increased the longevity of that conflict.
you, though, are undecided in your ideas, or all you focus on is "human life is precious". You are afraid of analysing a problem, finding historical info and insight about it, you are afraid of "taking sides" (that-wrong, this-right) because you haven't considered the idea yet, that human life remains precious no matter how right or wrong one, or either sides can be.But, congrats for your efforts. i really, truly and sincerely appreciate them. Wink

Oh get over yourself you silly little boy!
Lots of big words dont make you more clever or more 'in the know' than I. It just makes you look pompous. Which tabloid did you read that spiel from by the way?
All I said - and I stand by my words - I am not taking sides, because
A. I am a third party, neither side is 'my' side, I could only curry favor or sympathise with another's plight
B I think (yes having given it some thought thanks) that both sides are not whiter than the driven slush
C I think (again having given it some thought) both sides have valid points that I agree with, or at least sympathise with.

So I dont take sides, not sitting on the fence, merely sitting far away and doing the only thing I can do, and that is whatever it takes to support HUMAN LIFE.
I have highlighted in blue what makes the least sense, I mean for goodness sake what do you think I have chuffing said????!!!

If you dont like my point of view, tough.
I have more important things to do than to argue on here with someone who only knows how to regurgitate what he read in some rag and thinks it makes him intelligent and intellectual.

And there I shall leave you to it.

I have decided to answer your last post in exactly the same manner as yours - clearly and concisely:

Yes the cups of tea shine very brightly down my street when my mother washes the moon on the bus at midday.

Twisted Evil
