Petrol is arguably far too cheap anyway. A litre of precious millennia old fossil fuel is the same price as a litre of branded fizzy pop - which is a bit nuts. Anyway it's still being extracted cheaply - so disregarding that - tax is a problem. Where is the tax going? sadly as the rail networks are no longer nationised it won't be going there!

There should also be a petition to get car manufactures to make still more economical engines which don't have surplus performance at unnecessary mph. And a campaign to make motorists aware of what perhaps should be the imperative purchasing decisions regards car buying: rather than emotional decisions of newness, style, size, speed, power and brand.
