Religions, power and money have been used as mechanisms of control for sure, and have been interchangeable to a greater or lesser extent throughout history, but the extent of this is the maliability of the populations over whom control is to be exercised.

Sure money and power still walk hand in hand in realist terms {and not say religions are not powerful ideological tools - just that they are only so over particular populations}.

I'm not saying don't be faithful or cynical {whatever floats your boat} but is extrapolation of the facts not just the same as exaggerating?
