I've never said 'I love you' to anybody to whom I didn't mean it.

I don't trust easy either, I don't say 'I love you' if I don't mean it but everytime I've said those three words in the past, I get taken for granted or messed about.

Sharksy has therefore banned himself from ever saying those '3 words of doom' again.

Hmm.. I've had this conversation before.. There needs to be a new set of "3 words" invented, that comes somewhere between "I like you" and "I love you"...

At the beginning of a relationship, there is so many strong emotions going on, and at the height of *whatever* you want to blurt out "God, I something you!!! Now, "like" is just lame during a moment of passion, so "love" tends to be the chosen word.. But it's one of those words you cant take back.. Once you've said it, you have to keep on saying it..

Someone please invent/suggest a new word quick!

Because it is the one real attempt they will make at pleasing you by saying something they think you want to hear but don't at all mean. Sadly, it is the most important attempt they will make and the one which has the most gravity for the female species so they don't realize what the big deal about it is(men are physical plane drifters and women are mental plane drifters-and yes, I just made that up but it is true).

I like to believe actions speak louder than words so when someone says they love me, I just wait to see what they'll do about it. The good news is that nobody ever tells me so no waiting here on my part!! I guess it keeps me from having to do all the mental gymnastics-- which is good. Leaves room for other stuff..

The most awkward situation I've been in where the 'L' word is concerned was telling a guy I loved him and knowing he couldn't say it back.

I never expect the same in return and am quite happy to express my own feelings, just as if someone were to tell me they loved me, they mustn't expect me to always say it back.

It made the situation very uncomfortable. Thankfully, his actions spoke much louder than that one word.

Funny how losing me made him realise just how much he thought of me tho'

I have been thinking on this long and hard.. They do it all for the nookie.
