...the worst/funniest/most stupid reason you have heard for being stood up by your partner/date?

A couple of months ago I started seeing someone off this site, all was going well, loving it actually. It was a reasonably long distance relationship, with us seeing each other all weekend, to make up for the lost time. About 6 weeks in, when it was her turn to come visit me, she kept cancelling on the saturday, saying she could only come up on the sunday for that day....fine, but what was the reason?

That she couldnt leave her cat, that had a cat flap and access to food and water, over night on his own. To me this is on par with "im washing my hair" and is one of the most stupidest reasons I have been stood up. Obvioulsy after four or five times I finished it, as if you want to go out with your mates, just say you have plans. The thing that annoyed was that I had this perfect romantic evening all set up, and everytime she cancelled.

Has anyone else had anything like this? Id like to here some classics for comedy value. Im sure there are some right stinkers.

well i wasn't stood up lately but i was dumped for the stupidest reason known to man. the details are in anything else and the thread is called thas it then.

the last time i was stood up.... well actually the only time i was stood up i was supposed to be going out with this guy who had been asking me out for years. i always said no but he found me at a weak point where i said yes. a half hour before i was due to meet him he said are you ready to leave and i said yes. he said well i won't be there and turned his phone off. lol that's not the best bit. the reason for this he explained later on was that he had no money. seriously? why ask me out to dinner if you have no money?

ah well... as i already had my sitter paid i went out with the girls instead and had a blast. he continues to ask me out and now instead of saying no i say marry NO!

Ahhh, the old "cancel at last mintue" routine. I dont blame you for being like that, it is so annoying.

I have never "fake" cancelled on anyone, the only time I kinda have was when I was at the cinema on a blind date a few years back. My mum was locked out her house and she needed to get in as it was reasonably late. So just before getting our tickets I had to go and let her in. My date didnt find that amusing, I offered to go out again but she thought I made the whole thing up. Guess it saved me a few quid.

aw talk about bad timing eh? ah no matter, you're a cute guy and probably have no end of dates.

I would like to say yes to that, but decent women in my area seem to be hiding away, or their taken. Thats why I have started to look elsewhere.
