It depends on the circumstances, if you like that person and maybe could love them its really great and a massive compliment. If you dont and have no feelings for them in that way (as happened to me) a few weeks ago it was a massive shock but also nice. Does change the relationship forever though.

I usually just buy her a bar of fruit and nut and say ditto babes, …are we having love yet?

As stated above it can be very nice when the feeling is mutual

it's nice when you hear someone say it, it's sweeter when you've know it for ages, but gorgeus when it comes in as a surprise when you've almost lost hope...

When someone says it to me, I tend to not speak to them again.

When you are in love and you are told you are loved by the person you love, its great, its like everything just fell into place, your love is requited and the world couldnt be a better place. when you are not in love, that is the problem lol, then you need to start backing off and preparing a damage limitation plan.

I do feel sorry for those that cant let anybody love them, it must be such a lonely life for them, love is not as scary as they make it out to be, you just have to take the risk of getting hurt, which i think is alot of the problem for those that are scared of falling in love, the vulnerability of it all.

That's more or less what I would say. I get scared when people say they love me, if it is too soon though. I think it's something that grows over a certain amount of time. How long varies, so I can't put a time frame on it, it depends on so many factors as to what counts as "too soon".

A guy has never openly told me he loves me. Confused Sad

Is that because a man hasn't loved you, or because men tend to feel uneasy about saying it ?

I think it's very nice as long as it's not overused.
There's not really a better feeling than knowing that you're loved but... when you're told it eleventy million times a day then it tends to lose much meaning and becomes stifling and worrying.
Unless you're the sorts who wear matching his & hers hand-knitted jumpers with bears on them. YOU are allowed to say "I WUV YOU SNUGGLEBUM" to each other as much as you like and it will NEVER get old. *boiks*

The problem with "Ilove you" is that you tend to blurt it out after a good night together, you have intense feelings of "something" , and you cant put your finger on what it is, (no crude comments please legover) so you want to blurt something..

Saying I love you is like alcohol... too little has no effect too much makes you sick - and as like alcohol no one can handle the same ammount - plus if you have to much you can become kind of immune...
