Does anyone else here use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer as their main web browser?

No reason for asking, just a bit curious

Matt

HI Matt, I use firefox on one of my computers. It's a good browser but I don't think it's a hugh improvment over IE. The latest version of Opera is very good.

i use IE and forefox and most other browsers cuz i make web stuff so i need to know how stuff look like on diff. web broswers...

i have to say fox is one of the best i like fox with the add-on of nola (the GUI add-on)

however, some websites don't work with fox... for example my uni website, the good thing is you can use a fox add-on to view web sites in IE as well, with in fox.
the tabs are the best thing opening about 10 sites at the same time in the same window both in fox and IE

the nu Opera has a good GUI

I went to Firefox about 2yrs ago and never used IE since. What i like about FF is all the extensions/add ons. In particular i use FasterFox which makes it a LOT faster than IE, CookieSafe which allows me to fully control which sites can use cookies, NoScript which is an excellent javascript blocker which stops pop ups and dodgy sites installing spyware/adware/diallers/etc and finally, Adblock which also blocks adware.

Combined with ZoneAlarm, AVG, Spybot and AdAware, i've not had anything dodgy get through for several years.

I use FF except when I need a particular website to run that doesn't have FF compability.

Most M$ websites are like that. Such as the update website if I ever use it. Some of the hotmail features aren't FF compatible.

Besides that, I like FF. It looks nicer and never gives me error messages

I'm IE all the way, the few little extras that FF offer (tabs, add-ons etc) don't justify it's usage in my eyes, also as a developer I see far more errors with FF than IE.

And don't even get me started on why it's not more secure than IE!!

I can understand why it's a pain in the arse for web developers but as a programmer, i find FF a lot more usefull, especially if i'm working with DOM stuff.

Meh, there are pro's and con's for everyone, but I think it ultimately boils down to one thing, personal preference, neither has a massive advantage over the other.

Have been using Fire fox, mainly because IE has not been very good. But I've recently downloaded IE 7, and that looks better then FF IMO. Faster..tabbed..better security etc.

I haven't found any of those things to be true of IE - Security's the same, it runs exactly the same speed and... firefox has had tabbed browsing since it was first released Confused

I haven't bothered with IE for for years, but the new IE 7 is much better then the older versions from what I can see, and although I still mainly use FF. I am coming around to the new IE.

I am using ie 7 and FF and prefer FF cos not easy to find settings on IE7 but i am getting used to it. Tried to revert back to IE6 and it messed my PC up a bit. Grrrrrr so I am back with 7 only because its working better than FF at the mo.
