I mean on your PC, I haven't posted this in the Computers hardware and software forum because I don't have a problem with it.

I use spy sweeper, adaware, symantect antivirus scanner, sygate firewall,, spybot s&d, counterspy, spyware blaster, spy emergency, spy cleaner gold.

All the above I have checked out here http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm and it appears none of what I use shows false positives.

Some of you may think I am a somewhat paranoid, but I say to that, prevention is always better than cure Wink

I stick to the windows firewall, AVG free antiirus, spybot s&d, and just keep sensible about what programs and unidentified extensions I come across, as you say, prevention is the best cure

I use common sense..only psuedo-firewall is the NAT built into the router. I do have Avast! Antivirus installed along with Adaware and Spybot incase I need them but haven't for a while. Nothing beats using your noggin and just not opening anything dodgy..

For people who need protection though I tend to put on Zonealarm, Avast! and Microsoft Defender. If they want to pay for an antivirus I'll recommend Kapersky as it is a little known product that consitantly outperforms everything else. My old boss used to recommend Norton because he got it cheap and could make money off it regardless of the fact it was slow and has poor accuracy (2 hours for a scan that took 15 minutes with Avast! and Avast! found far more nasties).

hmm, tis a shame common sense isnt always gonna help you, viruses can be hidden anywhere on a website and can be gained from even legitimate sources without even opening/downloading anything, the coders are very devious these days.

Well it has helped me since 1998 when I got my one and only virus. Win32-CIH which was a nasty little bugger that corrupted every executable on the hard drive!
