When I switch pc on the fun runs etc but it just wont boot up, the monitor stays blank, I tried to reformat at one point when it was going for a little while before it shut down but got as far as entering the licence key and down it went never to return lol. any ideas??

yeah it was set to boot from disc, but it wont come up with anything now even without a disc in.
moniter stays like its not connected to pc

ok lets just be sure you did the reformat correctly it's more complicated than it looks.... you booted from disk. did you delete the partitions? if so then that would be why you are getting nothing on the screen. there is nothing there. you will have to reinstall everything again. if you deleted your partitions just insert the windows disk and reinstall it. and then all the rest of them.

Cheers hunni, no im sure I done it the way I normally do, even when I put the windows disk in it still comes up with nothing, think I have to cut my losses with this one lol. I took it to a pc repair shop and all they done was replace the fan ok it prob needed it but it still dont work grrrrrr.

As inthemixer says have u tried another monitor, also if you have a floppy drive you could try a win98 startup disk??
24.07.2006, 14:44 quote
Hi Yeah I have tried another moniter but still no joy. I don't think it will work from floppy either as it is set to boot from cd drive and I cant get in to bios to change it
24.07.2006, 14:49 quote
I'm having the same problem. Can you get into the BIOS?

If my memory serves me right when you insert a floppy, it will detect it as first boot device irrespective of what boot priority you have set it to boot from?
24.07.2006, 16:06 quote
oh right I didnt know that, thanks all I need to do now is get hold of a floppy lol
24.07.2006, 17:24 quote
Hmmm. Have you checked your graphics card? Try removing and reinserting it into the slot (now there's a double entendre!)
