I think that may be something to do with the quality of the films you are watching.

It is very rare for a film to capture my mind for its enture length, especially lately.

For one exception to this rule, try watching Nightwatch, that is a weird film, very hard to follow, and will send you to sleep if you don't follow the story closely.
It is actually a great film, but with a very complex story line.

Nightwatch is excellent. I'm going to show how WAY behind I am and ask if the other two films are out yet?

Daywatch has been out for a while now, but the third is on its way...

Noooooooo!!! Some of THE BEST EVER films made are in black and white.
Just dont expect 21st century special effects, and DONT expect to absorb the whole story through your eyes, you have to use your brain, and *own* imagination.
Try Frankenstein or the Bride of frankenstein with boris karloff, 1931. T'was scary if you used your imagination rather than rely on what you actually see on the screen.
Brighton Rock is great with Richard Attenborough.
For the girlies, Deanna Durbin is a must, especially The Amazing Mrs Holliday.
And in my opinion, there's never been better than the original Johnny Weismuller Tarzan films.
The first psycho was filmed in black and white by choice for the effect.

My mum saw Robin Hood Prince of Thieves seventeen times in the cinema and has a life size cutout of him on her landing Razz

I'm going to show my soppy side by suggesting Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni.

Its a really funny film, with a very good story to tell about hope.

Right that's my soppy side sorted now who's for some blood bath horror film?

Now that was unexpected.

Still on the black and white front, given that I read your appreciation of mallrats elsewhere megs, I presume you've seen Clerks.

Thousands of movies later, B&W inc, There are only a few that have frozen me in awe. These are two of them.
I highly reccomend these two.

Clerks is just a peice of modern art.

When I first came across it, I nearly turned it off cos it was black and white.
I am so glad I didn't, cos that is how I got so into Kevin Smith's movies.

I loved the Star Wars bit about the Death Star.

(I also loved Clerks II.)

I love Clerks, but I only like Clerks 2 a lot.

Just couldn't reach the same heights although it had some very good moments.

The cartoon was ok, but not at same level. Truly bizarre in places though.

I have the cartoon series, but struggle to connect with it as well as with the films.

Probably why they did so few episodes.

As far as J&SB Strike Back goes, it was OK, but just didn't have any sense to it all.

It is a strange thing to say, but Clerks had a great deal of intelligence in there, as well as some of the sickest humour out there.

Not seen that yet, tut, what have I been thinking, had a whole weekend too. Sad

Of course it did, it wouldn't have developed such a huge following otherwise. Had to be some substance behind it. Scary how it came pretty close to never being released.
