I love a good war movie, i've seen most if not all of them but my favorite has to be The Guns of Navarone. For no other reason than the fact that its one of the best adventure war movies ever made.

Whats Your favorite war movie?

Two of my fav 'war movies' are both German. The first is called Downfall. Its about Hitlers last weeks in his bunker just before the end of the war. Brilliantly acted and directed.

My second has to be Das Boot, the story of a German U boat crew during the second world war.

Ive picked these as its standard just to choose the usual flix already listed. If you've never seen either of these 2 films go watch them, well worth the effort in tracking them down.

i sawa good war film recently, its called Kokoda.

A bitter battle is fought between Australian and Japanese soldiers along the Kokoda trail in New Guinea during World War II
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481390/

was interesting as i didnt know too much about australia's involvement in WW11 , not quite as glossy as your usual hollywood tosh tho.

The Longest day
Saving Private Ryan
Guns of Navarone
A bridge too far.

And although not technically a "war film", i'm throwing in star wars

Just saw the bridge on the river Kwai the other night.... class.... Its no wonder Alec Guinness got a knighthood.

Hamburger hill is a gruesome classic, the same director john irvin made a film 'when trumpets fade' in 2003. It was a HBO movie as far as i know. Interesting premise, A coward is promoted to sergant and given a fresh squad of recruits to lead.

Its a little bit unrealistic but it brings along an interesting point of view for the whole thing.

Platoon is just a classic.... i love that film.... Mind you id love to watch it with a woman named Charlene Smile

Star Wars is a good film, but i've heard it compared more to a space western than a war genre. still it is called star 'wars' Smile

Loved Downfall... brilliant movie. Scared the bejesus out of me. First time i saw hitler portrayed as anything other than a characteur

Das Boot is Das Business

Zulu.... god who didn't want to be a Welshman after seeing that movie Very Happy

Also had to mention Aliens, not specifically War genre but still a brillant army film.

toby

I happened to be inside the "boot" 3 weeks ago at the Bavaria Filmstudios (south of Munich).....quite narrow inside..after that I watched it again at home - quite a cool movie.

The best war movie is Star Wars though

There is a really good Italian war movie - called "La Vita è bella".

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118799/

("Life is beautiul" in English)

Watch it !!!

Or better: Buy it and use the Flirtbox link:
