My Favourite comedy has to be either Clerks or Clerks II, not everyone's cup of tea I know, but Kevin Smith is funny. (When I first started watching Clerks, I nearly turned it off because it was shot in black & white)
If you have not seen them yet, then now is the time.

I've never heard of Clerks I am guessing its a film? I have Johnny English on dvd and watched it so many times I probably know all the words by now....how sad is that. I hurt my sides laughing every time I see it, when I saw it at the cinema there were only 5 or 6 other people there and my son and I seemed to be the only people laughing, maybe we have a weird sense of humor? Btw, what's Clerks about and who's in it please?

Well, for a start you have to have a certain type of sense of humour, but here is a link that will describe it better than I could.....

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424345/

It's directed by Kevin Smith, and is based around the life of two bum store-clerks. Clerks 1 isnt a good as the second movie but they are both cool.
(Also stars Jay and Silent Bob)

I'll have to check that one out, but Jay and Silent Bob is pretty cool.
The best film I have seen lately is Reno 911! Miami, it's shot like a documentary following the police around like on 'Cops', all the acting is done ad-lib, and done brilliantly, check out the link below.......

Not many films have made me laugh that much it hurt in the first 5 minutes!

.....it is just such a different format to most movies, it is actually an offshoot from a Comedy Central series made for North America.

As for Kingpin, I'll watch it and let you know if I like it

I tried to respond earlier but keep getting bumped off the net....I think I may have seen that clerks film cuz I def recall this silent bob chappie, has he been in anything else? I think it was some kind of teen film that my kids have on dvd. dude wheres my car or summat like that.

The Silent Bob thing started in Clerks but the characters remained in Kevin Smith's other films (He actually played Silent Bob) , like Mallrats, Clerks II , Dogma, it's sort of trashy humour but done in an intelligent way.
If you look at the earlier link I put up there is a trailer for the film there.
More smutty than Dude where's my car, and funnier

of those films i'd say dogma is the one most worth watching

and the best bit of that film is probably when Jay goes off his head at god near the end.

The chain goes:

Clerks - Mallrats - Chasing Amy - Dogma - Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back - Clerks II

They are all fantastically funny, with interlocking characters and themes.

Reno 911 Miami was another great comedy movie, and the series (which only airs on FX in the UK) was more of the same.

I would like to add 'Dodgeball' as well. It had me in hysterics from beginning to end.

I think that the interlocking themes and characters is one of the reasons I like those films so much.
Once you get to know the characters, you are left wanting more. I don't think there are going to be any more, but I live in hope..........
