Ok peeps - I have a stack of unwatched dvds and have decided to start ploughing my way through watching them. The reason behind this is that as fast as I buy them one of my sons (the eldest usually, as he lives nearby) 'borrows' one, never for it to grace my home again.
So, instead of listing the lot, i'm going to pick 2, and ask you lot to choose for me which one to watch first.

Here's the first choices:

1. Dollar for the Dead (emilio estevez)
2. O brother where art thou? George clooney

Never seen either, are the worth bothering with?

After much consideration of the HUGE response Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing I decided to push the boat out and watched both, didnt get to bed til gone 2am. Was well worth it, and I recommend both to all.
Dollar for the Dead is a typical western, Estevez is great, and O Brother where art thou? had me laughing right from the opening scene.

Tonight's choices.......
1. Butch Cassidy and the sundance kid
2. About a boy
3. Agency (robert mitchum & lee majors).

Hhhhmmm, i really need some proper sleep tonight, so come on people which ONE should I watch this evening?

Well, barring LV and TW, what an uninspiring lot we have on here! I was hoping for a tad more input here. Evil or Very Mad

I decided on Agency, i think about 10 minutes in I fell asleep so i missed it!
Oh dear, well tonight I might give About a boy a try, and seeing as how flipping Tango & Cash arrived with flipping German dubbing, tonight I have decided (seeing the lack of suggestions to help me choose!) to watch Unforgiven....yet again, if i've not worn the dvd out yet and it still plays.

Sorry I m late.

About a boy is a great film.

I love all of Hugh Grant's films.

Now you can all accuse me of being gay.

Yeah, but Hugh Grant isn't really a man is he.

To be fair, both my sons have recommended about a boy, so i shall defo give that one a try. Trouble is, apart from a small handful of films (unforgiven being one) I am very well known for never watching a film all the way through. I've seen hundreds over the years, but only the beginning, or the middle, or the end, never all 3...I just dont have the attention span and usually walk off and do the washing up or get engrossed in a good book, or fall asleep.
I am trying to train myself to watch a film the whole way through, I actually managed a few lately at the cinema (I usually fall asleep). Embarassed

I think that may be something to do with the quality of the films you are watching.

It is very rare for a film to capture my mind for its enture length, especially lately.

For one exception to this rule, try watching Nightwatch, that is a weird film, very hard to follow, and will send you to sleep if you don't follow the story closely.
It is actually a great film, but with a very complex story line.

Open Range had my full attention for the whole duration this afternoon, mind you I'd be happy to watch Kevin Costner watch paint dry, ya know? Wink

I am currently introducing my kids to the quality and superiority of eyeball burning some old black and white films, they have both fallen in love with Harvey, Brighton Rock and a couple of Weismuller Tarzans so far. Very Happy They both had this weird idea that if its in B&W it must be boring crap....?
Confused

I have that image in my head too.
I am currently trying to work that out, which is why I watched Dr.Strangelove.....

Nightwatch is excellent. I'm going to show how WAY behind I am and ask if the other two films are out yet?

Daywatch has been out for a while now, but the third is on its way...

Noooooooo!!! Some of THE BEST EVER films made are in black and white.
Just dont expect 21st century special effects, and DONT expect to absorb the whole story through your eyes, you have to use your brain, and *own* imagination.
Try Frankenstein or the Bride of frankenstein with boris karloff, 1931. T'was scary if you used your imagination rather than rely on what you actually see on the screen.
Brighton Rock is great with Richard Attenborough.
For the girlies, Deanna Durbin is a must, especially The Amazing Mrs Holliday.
And in my opinion, there's never been better than the original Johnny Weismuller Tarzan films.
The first psycho was filmed in black and white by choice for the effect.

I'd rather do that than watch most of his films. Smile

Evil or Very Mad OOOoooh that's sacriligace! How can you say such a perposterous thang??!! I'll have you know Tin Cup and the Postman AND pretty much every single movie ever made with that man in are on my top 20 films of all time ever list!!

I presume you've seen Clerks.

Clerks is just a peice of modern art.

When I first came across it, I nearly turned it off cos it was black and white.
I am so glad I didn't, cos that is how I got so into Kevin Smith's movies.

I loved the Star Wars bit about the Death Star.

(I also loved Clerks II.)

I have the cartoon series, but struggle to connect with it as well as with the films.

Probably why they did so few episodes.

As far as J&SB Strike Back goes, it was OK, but just didn't have any sense to it all.

It is a strange thing to say, but Clerks had a great deal of intelligence in there, as well as some of the sickest humour out there.

Well, Jay &SB Strike Back is all the potty humour, with absolutely no intelligence.

AND only half a bad story too.....

I did enjoy Dogma though, another under-rated film.
