I've been inspired by darkhorse58 and wondered what type of hardware people are running, if you only have one computer or a home network setup, what are the specifications of what you have?
*CPU = Processor, MoBo = Motherboard, RAM = Memory, GFX = Graphics, HDD = Hard Disk Drive*
Mine:
Main PC:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 2.08Ghz
MoBo: Abit NF7 -s v2.0 (nVidia nforce2 chipset)
RAM: 1.5GB DDR400 kingston
GFX: 256MB onboard / 256MB Radeon sapphire (agp)
HDD: 250GB Maxtor (very sad) split to 4 partitions (Windows, Games, Films/Music, Business)
Laptop #1:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1900+ 1.59Ghz
MoBo: update later
RAM: 768MB DDR unbranded
GFX: Intel iextreme 64MB onboard
HDD: 30GB
Laptop #2:
CPU: Intel Core Duo 2.16Ghz
MoBo: GT1SW (included with chassis)
RAM: 2GB DDR2 667 kingston
GFX: 128MB Intel onboard (915 chipset)
HDD: 120GB Seagate Momentus

Nothing possessed me, it was a choice to post a topic. What made you choose to view it 7 times and then reply?
I want to get a broader overview of peoples machines, if they even know what they are running or know its a Dell, HP etc. I do have various reasons for asking the question and asking the poll question.
Maybe no-one on this forum wants to answer, sees no reason to answer or whatever but I still have a right to ask, as I have in other forums and yes have received replies with answers to what I have asked.

I am a hardware numpty. However I shall try and look like I am blessed with "What's inside my pc" brains.
CPU: Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00Ghz
RAM: 768 MB RAM DDR (no idea what flavour)
Motherboard - no idea, has got some silly SiS 650 thingy on it.
GFX: Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
HDD: 320GB Maxtor containing Windows XP SP2/Slackware 11/Ubuntu/Zenwalk/music back up/STUFF
120GB Maxtor containing music/software/web site back ups/films
Very important - IT HAS GOT A BLUE LED ON THE POWER BUTTON. I love that.

All my stuff is crap, but I only use it for work.
PC is just an old eMachines box, with original motherboard whatever it is, Intel Celeron 3 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 2x 250GB + 1 120GB hard drives and a load of crappy graphics cards and things that aren't even worth a mention
Oh, added loads of usb cards.
Main laptop is a shitty Packard Bell (SW51), no upgrades except for hard rive and ram (now 160GB/2GB)
Will be building a new box for PC in the nex few months, this one is getting tired. Will replace laptop sometime soon too, need a smaller one (probably a 12 or 13" screen), better spec.
Also got 2 external network drives (500GB) and a portable USB external drive for the laptop that I take with me when I travel (120GB)

dunno still think its kinda geeky
I've got a shiny silver box
Lian Li.On the front is an Aerogate II fan controller/temp monitor and a control for the cpu fan (a coolermaster sumthing).
The cpu is an Athon XP2800 but its been o/c'ed to 3000+ with a clock of 2253.41Mhz and a system clock of 171Mhz.It can go higher but sumtimes I prefer stability.
1 Gb Dual channel DDR again o/c'ed.
Graphics is a Radeon 9600 128Mb (again o/c'ed)
Disk is a hardware stripe (or raid 0 whichever) of 2 120G satas (maxtor i think). There's an 80G Samsung for backups.
Various fans.
I tend to VM most stuff now but use MS Virtual PC for booting Live CDs (dunno why, just do).
Its about 2 years old (actually maybe more) but still fairly quick. I tend not to agree with upgrading just for the sake of it.The average PC is still probably very under-utilised.
Laptop I dunno. Its in the boot of my car and its raining

i'd agree re: under used pc's. Mine is 1.8ghz p4 and i only feel slow when converting films to dvd & running some windows games under cedega. Other than that i'd just like hardware virtualisation for it's alledged greatness for running other operating systems at close to native speed, esp windows once in a blue moon. I wonder sometimes if it's worth it, but will probs upgrade this year.

Specific games, but nearly all games are being written with a physix card in mind now, like they are all programmed to now take advantage of 64bit dual cores etc

That is if you are running a 64 bit OS and if you are then you are going to have a hard time, think impossible, finding games for it as well as drivers.
Its nice to have the card however it is not a must have.
MOSTDEF is running a Socket/Slot A and i thought i was ancient history with a dead and no up grade path Socket 754.

Not at all, i still avoid vista like the plague but there are plenty of drivers for games now and on that front is quite reliable. overall support for the physix card however has practically vanished since GPU's are now being built with physix engines

I am avoiding vista like the plague as well. I knew that anybody buying it was going to be MS's testing piglet and i had nothing of the sort in mind.
I saw one of the first 2x GPU's yesterday and it was, strangely enough, an ATI.
One of the new HD 3870's. This is where AMD's money is going to come from if Intel does not batter them with the on die graphics solution that is soon to be released. It makes sense to have it all done on the main chip but this reeks of MS behavior if you ask me.
