I am a hardware numpty. However I shall try and look like I am blessed with "What's inside my pc" brains.

CPU: Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00Ghz
RAM: 768 MB RAM DDR (no idea what flavour)
Motherboard - no idea, has got some silly SiS 650 thingy on it.
GFX: Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
HDD: 320GB Maxtor containing Windows XP SP2/Slackware 11/Ubuntu/Zenwalk/music back up/STUFF
120GB Maxtor containing music/software/web site back ups/films

Very important - IT HAS GOT A BLUE LED ON THE POWER BUTTON. I love that. Wink

All my stuff is crap, but I only use it for work.

PC is just an old eMachines box, with original motherboard whatever it is, Intel Celeron 3 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 2x 250GB + 1 120GB hard drives and a load of crappy graphics cards and things that aren't even worth a mention Smile Oh, added loads of usb cards.

Main laptop is a shitty Packard Bell (SW51), no upgrades except for hard rive and ram (now 160GB/2GB)

Will be building a new box for PC in the nex few months, this one is getting tired. Will replace laptop sometime soon too, need a smaller one (probably a 12 or 13" screen), better spec.

Also got 2 external network drives (500GB) and a portable USB external drive for the laptop that I take with me when I travel (120GB)

i'd agree re: under used pc's. Mine is 1.8ghz p4 and i only feel slow when converting films to dvd & running some windows games under cedega. Other than that i'd just like hardware virtualisation for it's alledged greatness for running other operating systems at close to native speed, esp windows once in a blue moon. I wonder sometimes if it's worth it, but will probs upgrade this year.

intel p4 3ghz ht
1gb dual channel ddr400
500w zalman (heat piped!) psu
HIS radeon x1950 pro icecool
arctic cooling cpu heatsink monstrosity
1 X 250gb hdd
2 x 160gb hdd

apparently i need some more memory. since running wow in higher res with this graphics card, it judders a bit when frame rates change suddenly.
my dvd writer goes wrong if i try and close data dvds so prob need a one of them too.

ageia physx card, that for specific games or benefits them all?

No, i wont be upgrading for a long while, i just did. Its one of those weird little "lounge pc"'s - paving the way to one day get a tv rigged up to it. The box said its an Intel, 2 Ghz dual core something or other processor, 1 Ghz RAM, 160 hard drive.......it's got Vista home premium on it, wasnt too keen to start with, but to be honest my old pc was such a dinosaur and was screaming and grinding like a jumbo jet chewing up gravel, this one's so darn quiet i don't know when its on or off....and it runs so fast and its great.
Not really into hardware/a bit of a technophobe, so not sure if I have listed what was asked for.....and still getting to grips wth the wireless teenyweeny keyboard with the mouse scroll thang in the keyboard onthe right, and the left/right clicks in the keyboard on the left.....thats the hardest thang to get used to...the pc itself is smashing.
