Well, I guess thats it. England lose to Russia, and are now unlikely to qualify for Euro 2008. Should that happen, do you think Steve McClaren will get the boot? Should he? Who would you prefer to see in the role?

i think he only got the job because big sam may have taken the odd bung, or not, the problem for me is there's still no suitable candidates. i'd love to see jose in the job, but i don't think there would be many others who share that sentiment.

I would share that sentiment, but I have already had a *ahem* discussion with somebody who definitly wouldn't Very Happy

stu pearce has the pasion and personallity but not enough experience, paul jewel always does a good job, but would the fa even look in his direction? but for me steve coppel could do with a bit closer inspection, what do you think baggie?

Pearce is not good enough tactically. Jewell has a decent record, but its with smaller teams, and he has not had the experince of dealing with top class players (although whether that is what we've got is another debate). Coppel is a good manager, but if you are looking at an English manager, it has to be Allardyce.

i'm of the same mind, big sam is the man, but why didn't he get it last time, he was the best candidate then by far, but i think his son's envolment in the bungs scandal is what cost him, harry redknapp is one of my favs, but again his past might not be squeaky clean

We'll probably end up with somebody who is squeaky clean and who isn't up to the job again.

Like McClaren.

That'd be interesting. Then we'd see if he actually does have any skill as an manager. But seriously, he'd never take the job.

He'll get and sack and then we'll have to go through the usual saga of "Should it be an Englishman or a foreigner?" and we'll end up settling for the usaul second rate manager who hasn't really achived much of note, thus is the way of internatioanl football.
