Personally I can't stand american football but love rugby, used to play when I was younger. American football is too drawn out for me and I think the padding takes away half of the fun, rugby can be fairly 'stop - start' but American football is about ten times wors, and the whole, spereate offence and defence times doesn't seem that good either. Just my oppinion of course. Rugby is the sport of real men Smile

I played both, I played rugby at my school and up til I was about 18, but I was a fat, unhealthy child so I wasnt that good at it, all I was good for was tackling. I played American Football for Peterborough Centurians years back, that was more "fun" because you can run full pelt at someone and not worry about dying, it was great. But the coach went back to America with all our money Sad

Just to stick my oar in, and I seem to have this discussion more than it is healthy... I've played both and you can't really compare them they are totally different. Gridiron is a tactical, play by play game that stop start, more like cricket. Rugby is flowing allowing for more improve play. Prob be better to compare to r.league.
As for all the stop start, better to watch college football - less advertising, most of it is due to big corperate america and money.

We can but hope, just hope the rumours the Irish were putting about concerning Wilko (that the English were lying about him being injured) are true Smile

Can we mix the 2? Rugby with chearleaders? The chearleaders were the best bit about the American football I saw

if you get a chance try going to a live game at Twickenham...unbelievable atmosphere, great day out, followed by a few beers in Richmond
