09.12.2008, 20:35 quote
Am I having a 3 week break between aerobics sessions...because as today showed, I lose fitness really quickly!
For one reason or another I've not been able to attend my usual class (slept right through one week, no money the other and last week the class was ruddy full!). I trot off today and find that after 15 mins I'm ready to collapse again.
Prior to the wee break I had been able to do the whole class at medium intensity and yeah, feel hot/tired, but able to finish the class without collapsing.
So no more breaks! Although the instructor is off till first week in february so I need to find me a new class whilst on my uni break or take up swimming again in the mean time.
Is it common to lose fitness so ruddy quickly?!..well, I don't know if you could call it fitness - tolerance to exercise perhaps? Haha.

If I don’t make to the gym for a week due to work or whatever, I find you do lose a little fitness. Obviously it depends on what you eat / drink and how fit you are anyway. Total fitness / muscle mass etc takes about six weeks to wear off, so get swimming and go for a jog!

Yes!!!! these sorts of sessions need to be attended on a weekly basis so that ur stamina and tolerance is kept at a high level

..... and I mean this with the best intention (and would be happy to elaborate in a different/suitable topic/thread), the 2 statements are contradictory. For your own emotional wellbeing, I suggest a leaning towards one or other of the feelings, rather than expressing both of them.
Perhaps it is not so off-topic as one might think after all, as emotional wellbeing and sport (aerobics for example, this thread) often go hand-in-hand!

i kinda gave up on my fitness when i left the army but i do still go for a run from time to time usely once or twice aweek just to keep my lungs fit
u do tend to loose fitness specialy when u been doing it for a good few yrs non-stop its real hard to get it back to the level u had it

My job is generally quite physical so i dont tend to see a lapse in my fitness levels.
Unless i stop my running, if i go 3 or 4 weeks not running, i tend to outpace myself quicker than i initially anticipated, but after 2 or 3 days im back to where i was.

I've been known to speed up just as I'm getting to Thorntons (does that count?)
