I don't agree......religion doesnt play a great part in my life and it wouldnt be something i would be concerned about in a partner either. Each to their own

I'm not saying it should be compusory to disclose your religion, but for me it's an important thing about a person, and i'd want to let people know.

If you were talking to people in a bar though, how soon would you ask if they are religious? Or would you chat till you find out you get on well, and leave that conversation untill a later date?

Like many things, I cant see how its an important thing to know when you are first saying hello to someone - Id look more to what (if they do..) write about themselves in the profile rather than tick boxes

Smile Imagine if you went out with some girl and she turned out to be a holy jo though. It would suck.
If you can make judgements about people based on whether or not they like RnB, you should be able to infer whether or not you're likely to be compatable with them based on which fictional character(s) they worship.

but just cos the girl believes in it, doesnt mean she'll shove it down your throat.. what if she did a job you didnt like, or had a hobby you didnt like... you have to learn to make exceptions..

Im sure though, that if they had very strong opinions on religion then that would be made clear when you chat to them - its the beauty of finding out about people and getting to know them.

I take your point though that you can make decisions about the music they like but not their morals. However things like music might make a conversation opener - "I see you like ..., did you see them at....." is much easier than "I see you are an atheist, why is that"

I guess that it would be alright that if the option to put what religion you are on your profile, as long as it was optional. I don't think religion for me is a deciding point in messaging someone, so I wouldn't pay attention but I understand that for some people it would be important.

I think its a good idea to give people the option to disclose their beliefs, we do afterall have a "religious" section of the forum.
