How about a Scottish forum ?
May encourage a few more of us to come out from under the heather.

Suggestions :
Posts for the sake of safe moderation could be in English or Doric (Old Scots).
Moderators : cheekyeyes - As she seem nice and is about here a fair wee bit and ammoniasquirt because he's got a goatie and could pass off as my old history teacher any day!
Open to all - No matter where you live. No passport needed.
Polite policy - Keeps things all nice a fluffy !

One of the main reasons for asking for a Scottish forum.

Theres an Edinburgh section as well but Scotland has a fairly spread out population and the two sections listed don't do much for members from the likes of Aberdeen,Moray,Inverness,Highlands,Sutherland and Tayside to the North or Borders, Ayrshire or Dumfries and Galloway to the south. When you use a search for Glasgow or Edinburgh you can sometime miss people that are within your own regions.

A segregated community is not whats being suggested, that would totally defeat the purpose. All that I'm suggesting is a section where more scots may be encouraged to post and get to know each other in a manner that we're used to. Bit like a Ceilidh with everyone welcome

Interesting to see how the members from North of the border feel.

I think those sections are dictated by the size of the place involved, i.e cities will have their own section, but not towns like Aberdeen, Moray, Inverness, Highlands, Sutherland and Tayside etc. For example, i live in ashton under lyne, but I fall under manchester.

IMO I don't think it's going to happen? this forum is for all English/Scottish/Welsh and Irish to use.

I know what you mean, but they don't constitute cities, that's why there is seperation in the site (AFAIK)

Scotland has 4 major cities

Glasgow
Edinburgh
Aberdeen
Dundee

I'll leave it at that, any such decision is down to Toby no one else, so i'd advise you to forward your suggestion to him for consideration

Yeh suppose I should have made that a little clearer. I am in no way suggesting that a Scottish forum would be for only Scots. The Idea is that we could have a section where members who live up here can be encouraged to get more involved and hopefully gain more posters and help the entire board flourish. I'd go as far as to say that any member no matter where they live may would also be encouraged to join in a bit of distictive Scottish banter ( TM Chewin the fat ! LOL )

No matter where you go in the world this happen -You walk into a bar and are surrounded by locals yet hear a few accents that sound like your own. Chances are you make a b-line for the familiar until your comfortable and then spread out among locals when the confidence levels rise.

This site has a lot of Scots listed yet very few posting and therefor very few getting to know each other.

So as clarification of the suggestion ......
