The music/film/actor/band bit of the profile is still based on ticking boxes from a pre-defined selection.

If I were single and wanted to find somebody who appreciated (oh I don't know) Norwegian-Punk-Funk-Country-Folk-Hardcore bands, I wouldn't be able to.

Would it not be better to allow free-form text entry fields for favourite bands/films etc.

I appreciate it means there's more checking for the moderators, but there might be two people ideal for each other out there who will never find each other with the current system.

Could you not add it in the Q&A (the extended bit)where you can add stuff you like etc etc....I always look for things like that, not everyone bothers to fill it out which is a shame....

You're right of course.

It's just that if you offer a specific section on bands/music, a person might reasonably expect to find your favourite bands/music listed in there.

Please ignore me. It's my obsessive/compulsive desire to have everything perfectly ordered running away with me again.

Its a good suggestion, imo. Those sections are rather limited.
