you know when we get email notifications of forum threads, is there any particular reason we have to get to the last page of the thread, where the new post obviously is, ourselves?
it's the little things...

Yes, that bugs me too. You're better off having a bookmark of some sort to take you straight to the list of unread posts since your last visit. That way, you can glance at what other threads have developed since you last looked.

I'm not an arty person, by any stretch of the imagination. I'm a lot better at the technical side of things. There's probably people better at it than me on here, though.

I'd be happy to lend a hand anywhere I could, though Smile.

im more of a coder than a designer and even more of a factfinder. what i'd really like to do is run some queries on the database. for instance find out how many messages are being sent to 'inactive' users or what percent of profile views are to inactive profiles. Generally find out what people are actually doing, how they are using the site and attempt to find out why so many people leave.

there comes a time when its time to find out how efficient a site is operating and deal with the issues not keep throwing new features at it.

At the core a dating site is about people sending messages to other people. Given the fact that most people use 1 site at a time, all the people who have left have either found their match here (seems unlikely), or gone to another site. if a site is perceived to be working ie there's enough communication going on to give hope, there's no reason to leave....

That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps profiles should expire, or at least become unviewable/hidden, after a certain period, with the user receiving a warning about it ?

Some possible new features, though, wouldn't be so much about adding something new as making something that already exists easier or better to use.
