Could these be limited to people who have logged in recently, for example within last 2 or 3 months?

This is just to reduce the number of dormant profiles I will look at from the random profiles.

I have to agree. How many times have I 'clicked' on someone recently who looks interesting, only to find that they last logged in on:- "14/11/2005". This is very annoying... hrumph!!!!

I'd go a step further and say any profile unused in a couple of months should be sent an automatic email reminding them of their username and maybe password.

If there is no activity after 3 months (so a month after the reminder), the profile should be deleted, or at least hidden from search results and random profile pic.

Leaving old profiles on a site is usually the nasty tricks of a pay-for sight to make it look like they are more popular than they really are.

what about those of us who have profiles just to be able to use the chat boards? there would have to be a different way to do that.

the problem is, i dont know which profiles are old profiles as there is a weird error that sometimes causes timestamps not to be updated when people login. apart from that i had complaints of people who discovered their profile was deleted after 1 year without logging in as they wanted to keep it or used to read the messages via inbox notifications just didnt bother to login as there was nobody they were interested in...(women especially)

Only way around that would be to make it clear on registration that they would need to be active in order for their accounts to stay open. That doesn't help with all the current members though, lol.

I guess if they say they read their flirtbox email, then they'd get the warning right?

but a "typical single" will be single again every 2-3 years ....and then they would have to create a new one every time they are single again?

sooner or later you will be able to "inactivate" a profile for a specific time (if you are in a relationship )

When you search the search results are ordered, latest person to log in at the top (in the last logged in column) - thats a hint there who is an active member and how is dormant at the moment.

It wasn't so much for the search, as you mention that can be sorted on the last logged in, but I've only been here a few days, and I'm already fed up of clicking on interesting random pics in the side menu only to find they last logged in dec 2005!

How about just excluding profiles unused for several months from the random pics. That way nobody would know about the not logged bug Toby mentioned as it's random who it displays

I sent off a flirty mail to one of the girls on this site yesterday. Today I log in to see if I got a reply. I didn't and thought nothing of it until I checked her "Last Login" - 14/09/2004 !
It seems that you can be a passive member for years? Is there any way to deactivate or at least put up a warning or such?
I rather see some sort of sleep mode after six months which the member can activate again should he/she log in.
