I was thinking maybe a Local Area Forum maybe a good idea. Would be useful to post local events of Whats On and Where to go, i.e. gigs, meetings, Party's reunions...etc etc.
Thought this could be done by having a General Local Forum then clicking on a link that takes you to your local area. The same way you can on the main flirtbox page. Does anyone else think this may be a good idea?

In general: If anyone manages to start a subject concerning a particular region/area or town and you get at least 20 people from that region/area/town to join the discussion I will be happy to add one!

I do not want to add thousands of areas right now as most of them would probably stay empty anyhow.....

That would be nice as a dance addict to techno, funky house, trance, world dance, I love to have my local dancing, clubbing, group around North West London and the city, we can talk about our clubs experience I wish it will be called dance forum keeping my fingers crossed. A blog function would be nice as well , and this site has really grown in its topics and forums regards to admins.

you could maybe have south west.. wales, north east etc and see how that goes.. and then you add the towns that are most popular and go from there

aww im all for it! i even done a poll lol woohoo go me! i think its a great idea, cos u can meet ppl from ur local area aswell !!

Much like the lesbian forum being restricted to girls, these Local Area Forums need to be restricted to people only from that area - as in they won't show up on anyone else's forum screen. This'll avoid excessive amounts of wasted space on the forums, as even though I love those feisty northerners, or those from the south west - they're not from my area, so it wouldn't be "my" local area forum.

We also have the issue that this forum isn't exclusively to the UK - I'm assuming LAFs would only be for the UK to start with?

Regional rather than Local forums sounds good! so Trace you got 3 for the Southwest?

thats all well and good but im a northerner who lives in the south west.. so i would like to meet people from my home town as well as from down here

and some people may live in one area but work in another..

To be fair it's not worth setting up anything for smaller areas. For instance, my hometown (hereford) has very few members on here, even less that sign in regularly. At last count, i think it's only myself and 1 other who ever use the forum.

I notice the top of the homepage already has flirtbox areas UK, Ireland, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Cornwall. Is that something new or has it been missed by others?
