It might be a smart idea to filter out email addresses in posts. I can see some of the more naive posters not realising the problems it could cause.

Then if they put one in, a small disclaimer could explain that email addresses should not be used in your posts, and should only be used in private-messaging or something?

Only an idea, if someone desperately wants to show their email, then they'll get around the system with ease, but this helps the less-experienced or younger members pick up the ropes a bit quicker.

Anyone agree?

mynickname at somewhere dot com

mynickname *** hotmale **** co * uk

or even as ascii art:

****** ****** ******* * *******
* * * * * * * **
* * * ******* * * *
* * * * * * ******
* ***** ******* * *******

ok, i give up....

I did mention that in my post - it's not to ban email addresses, it's there to stop the naive and new people posting their email addresses without a warning.

Of course, it could be a pain to code. Ah well, only an idea.
