In fact I was looking at it yesterday....the problem is that if I introduce one, it should be really good..and all the good ones require flash.

So I am looking for alternatives.....

The problem with irc is that I dont know enough about irc servers yet and I think it is easy to do DOS attacks on irc servers...

Does irc support audio/video yet?

I agree some kind of chatroom would be good with pics alongside name.

I dont trust other websites...so it would need to be hosted by me...otherwise the other webmasters would all know your passwords and personal details....

All hosted chatrooms I found were hosted in the USA (e.g. the one faceparty uses).

It is illegal to pass the data of the members to servers outside the European Union though without the member's consent - and I would pesonally never consent to that, as I dont trust the USA - especially with all thoseanti-terrorist laws that open up all your private details and personal data to everyone in almost every position.

As long as Flirtbox is hosted in the European Union, no FBI etc... can access your personal data.

And imagine a stalker happens to work for the FBI or some other institution.....he/she could find out everything about you. Or people could just pretent to work for the goverment and people would hand out all the data they have....

It is bad enough all those airlines "cooperated" with the US goverment and passed lots of unnecessary and private information around.....that was completely unnecessary.

I like to be in control of who has access to private data (nobody!) and protect the members by the arbitrariness of governments and ridiculous anti-terror laws.

i dont want anyone secretly reading chat room messages...no matter whether it is for a reason or just for the personal entertainment of people who work for the government.

toby just out of interest do you get paid per click for advertising?? because one of the ways the site i used to admin for funded the chat room was to get all the members to click on a a few of the ads a day. and as a reward they got to use a chat room?? just an idea
