Stonecastle: I hear ya brother,... only in my case, I really am far too shy to just "chat-up" girls.
My only hope is that I get to know them really well and they make a move on me. It happens, but not very often. (mostly because I just get to know girls really really well, less and less these days).

I guess I'm just far too cautious, I only like girls I know well, and there is quite a risk trying to start a romance with a friend or colleague.

If you are rejected,... well you feel like a prat and it's really awakward, and you may have jeopordised a friendship.

I guess us shy people are just buggered,... we are a "genetic cull-de-sac"

You see like a nice average guy, I'am sure if you overcome some of you shyness you'll find a girl.

Well you could also take along a friend who isn't shy to start talking to the girls first. I had to try really hard to overcome my shyness with girls but I did it in the end. It is not easy. I think everyone is very shy with girls to begin with. It could help to take a stiff drink before going out and approaching girls. Alcohol makes you more relaxed and gives you a bit of dutch courage.

Alcohol can also make you act like a plonker.

Not to mention girls aren't overly impressed if a bloke stinks of booze!

I am only talking about one drink just to calm your nerves. Say one pint of beer. Not about getting drunk.

I suppose I could try getting drunk and touching girls up in the laundrette,.... but somehow I have the feeling that it will end in tears,... specifically: Mine, caused by mace in my eyes.

I know.

We can still smell it, though.

Where did this touching up women in launderettes come from? I said that I met a woman in my local launderette once who agreed to meet me again. Nothing at all about touching her.
