My only quibble with the loo seat is that the whole thing should be put down at all times!!
It's more a case of hygiene and not wanting to see inside the loo bowl if i'm not in the bathroom for the toilet, tho' I don't think i've ever had an issue with a partner or male member of family leaving it up.

Not saying it should be kept up, but there's no law that says it has to be down all the time.
