As promised, here is a (serious) picture I took today while I was 'hard at work'......

This is a picture of the spring tides at Portreath in Cornwall, although the tide isn't too high yet (only about 3:30PM)
The picture isn't very good because the closer you got to the beach, the more it hurt as you were being bead-blasted by the sand in the ultra high winds.
I was planning on going back this evening to get some decent pictures with something better than my phone, but the police have closed the entire area off because it is too dangerous.(the swines~no pun intended!)
To give you an idea of how big the waves are here, that rock in the sea is actually HUGE, with probably enough room for 10-15 houses woth BIG gardens too......

Good photo that. You lucky buggers living in Cornwall. Would love to live down there.

See, I am the worst kind of Cornishman, I only live about a mile, away from the beach in the picture, and how often do I go there?
Well, being honest, the last time I was on the beach for anything but work was probably 3 years ago.....
Sad really, I must make more of an effort, perhaps I will if there is anything left after the storms and high tide tonight....

Same here, seems like not many Cornish people go to the beach, suppose most would think that strange with having the beaches on the doorstep & all. Confused

Well you miserable Cornish sods can just sit indoors then, more room on the beach for the rest of us.

We used to holiday in Tintagel when I was a kid. I have some fantastic memories of those times and really love Cornwall.

It is nice here, but I don't know any different.
If you like low wages, high house prices, high unemployment, teenage pregancy (and that is the older ones!), it is the place to be.
I was on my way to Falmouth today, and some prick wrote on the Falmouth sign "Welcome to Emmetsville".
It's wankers like that, that make me ashamed to be Cornish.
Being in a remote position, we are rather neglected in many ways, and one thing we do have going for us is tourism.
In my job I would say 90% of my years work comes in the summer, from tourism, and the rest of the year is dead, so where would I be without these 'emmets' they talk about?

Like pretty much anywhere else then really, except with nicer scenery.

I wish I had a proper camera again, I hate uploading crappy mobile pics........

Today I went for my usual mid-afternoon walk with the dog, along the banks of the Plym (middle pic). Despite her missing back leg, Pebbles usually jumps onto the back of the sofa (top pic, blurred - I was having a blonde moment Very Happy - to look out of the window to see if it is raining before deciding whether the word ‘walk’ is worthy getting excited about. Incidentally, Pebbles is most considerate, and gets on the back of the sofa so I can put her collar on without having to bend down (well, she is awfully small, and I am rather tall). However, she is not very happy with me right now, as she feels that it is unbecoming for a lady to venture into such strong wind (bottom pic) after she has had her hair done

You shoulda seen her when she was walking *into* the wind Very Happy That's about the only time she struggles a bit on 3 legs, when the wind is strong. Fortunately, she's small, so I can put her into my coat if things get too much for her (or it starts raining).

To anyone who read my post about RAF St Mawgan and big planes flying right over your head, here is a picture I forgot to post...

That is why I went there actually.
The picture doesn't do the situation much justice, but to put it perspective that plane is the same distance away as the white van, and the runway starts about 25 feet over the hedge from the van.
They were training pilots for the new Eurofighter all day and I had to go and watch , amazing!
