I guess this one is aimed mainly at the women here...

I’ve noticed a few posts about ‘pervy 50’ blokes on the forums so I thought I’d find out what age difference people think is acceptable (obviously anyone my age sending pervy messages to a girl less than half their age would be regarded as a ‘pervy 50’).

But I must admit that most of the profiles I’ve seen on Flirtbox that appeal to me are women around 36 (incidentally, although perhaps not relevant, my last girlfriend was 38, the one before that 52, and a couple of FWB's the past year between 36 - 38, but women I'd known for a while).

Do women here think it is acceptable for a 49 yo male to contact a 36 – 38 woman without assuming the bloke is a perv – or even just ‘too old’? (Obviously ‘normal’ contact, not sexually suggestive messages).

Have to say, I didn't realise from your pic you were 49 (and 6'ft 5"?!!! )

Personally, i can't see what's wrong with someone your age contacting someone in her early 30's, let alone late. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks the same.

Nor is there anything wrong in older guys being flirty with females a good bit younger, especially online! In here particulary (FLIRTbox!),, I find it odd that anyone should be labelling anyone 'pervy'.

I have to agree with red nothing pervy with a bit of flirting regardless of age and as for contacting people just bite the bullet and do it, not as if u can get a slap in the face

You should see some of the other photos of me, they are not as flattering lol. But yeh, I've aged quite well considering I never took care of myself. One of the photos I was going to upload to my profile is 10 years old, and I looked older then than I do now. Strange.

There is a differance between a 50 year old saying "Hi, really liked your profile. Would you mind if we chatted?" and "Hi babe/hun/chick, I really like your tits. Want to talk dirty with me?".

I've had a couple of nice conversations with blokes more than double my age (I'm a baby at eighteen), but made it clear from the start that I'm not interested in taking things further with them in a romantic way.


As said before, you've got nothing to loose. Women generally prefer older blokes anyway!

I just thought I would add to this thread as I have also wondered about this. for me joining this site was a big step as someone that had been with the same partner since 13 year olds from school, up till 10 months ago.
I haven’t contacted anyone yet just because of being perceived in a bad way and at worst as you say a ‘perv’ (as darkhorse57 said} god, that’s so unfair, I must say I hope that one is just in your head!!
I guessing most won’t be interested if your picture isn’t a brad pit look -alike!! so I wonder if it’s not all a waste of time. they say ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ and it may be true, but I sometimes wonder if the words are worth listening to!! age to me don’t matter cos’ when needed I can be grow-up but lately I seem to have a lot of friends 20 to 32ish and indeed have had 1or2 come on to me, which is really s*** if you get on well, but it bothers me how that may look.
I would love women around my age but with a youngish outlook maybe, to be going to the places I go but single women ‘if there are any’ around my age, don’t go out at night around my way and in the afternoon are probably watching ‘deal or no deal’ lol
anyway if I’d been holding my breath for a women to make contact on here I would have long since died!!

well startingover if it makes you feel better i might be younger than you and I rarely get contacted. Today happens to be an exception... so everyone gets lucky every now and then...

Strangely enough, in a real life situation I have no problem flirting or chatting to women in the age group I mentioned. Although I have to be honest, most of the time it is they who initiate the contact (Gawd, the Plymouth to London train......)

The age thing has only been on my mind since I started browsing the forums here since I joined a couple of days ago, there are quite a few posts buried away about 'pervy 50's'.

Hey good subject and lots of positive comments there, that makes me feel good too. I've been out with a woman older than me but also I had a girlfriend for 2 years, in her early 20s, it just happened that way when we met, she thought I was younger and I thought she was older, so it can happen, but I didn't know the score regards online. Pictures don't always do people justice either!

Being new to this site I've not chatted with anyone yet though have sent a few messages, thanks for the tip of asking 'would you like to chat?', coz not all guys over 30 are pervs! (most are probably not actually). Thanks again!
