You search the site.
Find someone.
Sweating palms.
You stare at a blank space on the screen.
It taunts you with the words "Subject"
Anxiety.
Panic.........

We all want to make a great first impression.......
Be the smartest, wittiest, smoothest.....

What is the best first message that you have ever read?

(how do we grab your attention ladies)

If I write an e-mail to someone on Flirtbox, I don't like to come over as this cocky bastard. I know it's easy to do. So I do a simple "Hi", it gets the message across.

totally agree something simple, nice and genuine makes you stand out from the crowd ! would draw my attention more than anything else and some of the terrible ones i've had. Won't even bore you with them.

Having been on the site I as the male always seem to do the Hi blah blah bit why wont or dont the ladies contact us? Wouldnt it be nice to open your message box and recieve a few lines from the ladies or maybe its just me Question

In my opinion, a "hi" would be sufficient....because it never matters what you write.
If someone is interested in your profile, you will most likely get a reply.

If someone is not interested, you could write the best message ever...but still get no reply.

What do you think Question

i 100% agree with you there toby. you could sit there and write forever but when it comes down to it if your profile is empty and there is nothing but the same old lines, women wont reply.

I have to admit...

the reason i have asked this question is I have tried many ways....

for me - the "hi there" approach just hasnt worked...(maybe because i'm incredibly boring) - i have tried that but my impression is that us guys probably bombard you girls with messages and looking at your inbox with say 300 msgs all headed Hi there - might be a little boring.....

I have sent msgs opening with a joke - that has got a response and i've met some very cool people this way - a sense of humour is important isnt it? and although we would all insist that we have one - lets face it, some of us actually havent.....

The hi or hello bit does nothing for me, the messages i have had with that subject just!! well what can i say, i've been doing this for 5 years on and off and i've had dates from scotland to eastbourne so basically all over the country. if i send a message i tend to say what i see, you don't send a message if you don't like the look of someone so if you think she looks nice? say it, sexy? say it, gorgeous? scrummy? the list is endless but just don't be crude in the rest of your message, try and grab there attention by not putting the same boring thing, its been ok for me and i've had some long time relationships from it, good luck.

Just saying Hi doesnt really tell me much about you.... most girls list GSOH in their wish list of good attributes so I guess a good place to start is to make us laugh.... say something that proves you actually read our profiles rather than just looking at the picture!

Also this may sound harsh but if you have had no reply, then assume no interest and move on. I've found that when I've replied and pretty much said thanks but no thanks, you get more messages back and a convo starts and then you end up either being harsh to get the message across or youre told youre leading someone on just for being friendly. Its like you cant win!

I think rezarf has it right....you sent me a message for a reason...what was it? Tell me! A compliment will never go amiss.

Maybe you dont get messages cause you want to cheat on your partner!
