I wonder if others who simply float in occasionally find the exchanges between the self appointed elite as off- putting as I do?

Little in jokes and no condemnation of accounts of violence, whether real or from deluded minds, smacks of odd elitism to me.

Clearly, if the site wants to encourage meat head violence, those responsible for it will turn a blind eye, but if they want more people to participate in it, dismantling some of the cliques might work wonders. (It's only a website, not the freemasons or some secret sect for heaven's sake!)

You're right, it's only a website, why complain?

Well i suggest you cast eyes back over to the "am i shallow" thread and maybe you will see why you get such a bad response in your messages but to be fair its not everyone, i mean you feel the need to try to belittle people but if i actually said what YOU lokk like id probably get banned!

Oh and id find the link for that other thread but as you said before im too much of an "airhead" to know how you would do that!!!

But for real, is this serious??? You can call people meat heads and air heads but you cant have someone say you would get turned on for sniffing a dogs arse??!!! I suggest you grow some balls and man up, ignore it all and just get on with it!!

As for the elite thing katie... hmmmm i think its ok to let you in!!!

Why should I care what you think I " lokk" like, At least with most elitism, it has some grounding to it, It's clearly not based on intellectual capacity or mastery of grammar with this "in crowd", is it?

Stop ruining my fun! Bikini pics first! Or at least magic beans.

Seriously, stop attacking Julie's English, if you want to take that route I'll point out all of the mistakes you made in that response.
Besides that, belittling somebody else to make yourself look better does just the opposite. You're really not endearing yourself to anybody.

Seriously picking up on a typing error really does not make you look remotely intelligent, just makes you look as petty as this topic is!

If you dont care about it and wouldnt want to be associated with this so called "it crowd" that you are talking about why go to all the trouble of making a topic about it?!

Also grants spelling and grammar is amazing everytime and i would like to think he is part of this "it crowd" you speak so fondly of. So really your post is pretty pointless!

Endearing myself to the little knitting circles who have their petty alliances and seem to think they are somehow the elite of an extremely trivial mass would never be my intention. (But you have to KNOW me to know that...in the REAL world, where thugs are disliked and not worshipped and fawned over.)

Cliques and elitism on the forum are imagined, total newcomers join in everyday and then they just appear that they've known everyone for ages.

We choose where and what threads to post in, and the level of seriousness can be found variable on the different topics and it's our choice where we post and what we say.

It's no wonder that some moany, negative and miserable people don't get as good a response as they think they deserve.

Then other than belittling people, please try to explain what you are trying to achieve. This all seems thoroughly pointless to me, and a bit like you're throwing your toys out of the pram.
You have made at least one snide comment in every single post since you started this topic too, which suggests to me you're trying to make other people feel bad.
Do everybody a favour and drop it. The only place this can go is to trade insults, and nobody is going to win there.

Julie, if I can suggest bowing out gracefully? Just ignore whatever he has to say.

I think you'll find some of the in crowd may well have made less than favourable remarks within their contributions too. As I recall, I simply made a point open for discussion. I didn't insist that any of the self appointed FB Mafiosi responded to it, I simply asked if others found it as tiresome. Perhaps " do certain people seem to you to think they are the most important here?" query was a sensitive subject to some?

And I think you'll find my point was not about other people, but about you starting a topic to be insulting to others.
Perhaps a better course of action would have been to do nothing? As Sue says, any elitism is imagined, people come and go all the time, with no problems. You didn't like people disagreeing with you, which would make you the elitist.

you are more than welcome to share your views on any thread - everyone is a newbie to start with - just let yourself have some fun instead of finding fault with cliques and the "mafia"

i dont want to get at you or have an argument just trying to offer some friendly advice Cool

With the use of first name terms in a post, the point is made about 'in crowds' and elitism in a far better way than I could possibly have done...thank you!
