Home >> Anything else >> Opinions on wearing make-up?
01.04.2009, 16:38 quote
I thought it might be interesting to have a thread about make-up, who likes it, and who doesn't, what looks good and what doesn't are you a male or female who likes to wear it????? Do you have specific reasons for your choices.
I spent most of my life NOT wearing make-up just may be the odd special occasion stretching to about 5 times a year....... I didn't go many special places
(
When I became single, I realised that I DID like wearing make-up but that I hadn't really been giving myself the time, so now I wear it most of the time and as it feels symbolic of 'looking after me' Being an artist, I enjoy using different colours, so my eyes and lips change according to what I'm wearing as well, and I would say that I use it all sparingly. I've got good skin too so I tend not to use make-up over my whole face.
So, do men like women wearing make-up or not? Have you got a pet hate about make-up? Are you somebody who says you prefer women without make-up but start drooling over the women wearing it?
Thoughts on this please.

As far as i am concerned my feelings are that make up is there to accentuate what you already have, not replace it. So i like the kind of make up on a woman which is not very heavy because i would say I like natural beauty. When I see women who wear make up in a similar way such as Jordan of Jodie Marsh, it just makes me look away and puts me off talking to them because I don't feel like i am actually talking to them, I feel like I am talking to somebody behind a mask.
Sometimes I do look at some women and think to myself "she would look much prettier without all that foundation and what not on" but it is up to them what they do and how they present themselves to the world, I don't have to like it though. some colour is nice but orange face and thin pencilled in eyebrows are not, in my opinion. There is always the exception to the rule though so its never black and white (not the make up, the issue lol)

I prefer a woman who wears no make-up at all. In fact, come to think of it, I have never had a long-term girlfriend who wore make-up.
I find a little foundation and accentuation make-up acceptable and pleasing sometimes.
I would also find a paper bag acceptable; I’m not all that fussy really, I would probably spend most of my time looking at her breasts anyway.

I do wear make-up ............. no need for foundation yet thank goodness, does terrible things to your skin ........... i tend to highlight my best facial feature, which i think is my eyes and then just a little lip gloss ............ like Scott says those Jodie and Jordan wanabees ........... yuck, and there skin must be sooooooo bad underneath.

I like to wear some make up, in this pic i'm only wearing a little, ususlly my eyes and lips and i usually have my nails done if that counts. I dont wear and dont like to see alot of make up on women but i also like to feel like i have made an effort lol

A little slap is ok, ..but if they wear too much you just know you have to be out their house in the morning before they wake up
...and you sober up

i didn't used to wear make up often mainly as i have just gotten out of teenager-ness and so putting it on before either resulted in a breakout of the dreaded A word, or accentuated it if i was having one already
i've started wearing it more often as my skin has calmed down (tho i still get breakouts as a result of hormones cause by the dreaded P word) tho due to having not not gotten used to devoting time to the practice i will be found more often then not bare faced but for lip balm, which i do use religiously
when i do use it a barly use any generally my favorite lipstick very sparingly(with balm over it) black eyeliner also sparingly and some colour eye pencil for the lid, usually acid green or sky blue (i like to dye my eyelashes black rather then use mascara as i don't like the wierd spider like effect that mascara can somtimes cause)
anyway i tend to think that make-up rarely looks good if overused and can look ruddy awful sometimes if underused

I love makeup and I would recommend wearing foundation, lippy and eyeliner to any other budding transvestite.

Wouldnt go out the house without it!!! I have went in to work once without it and got told I should be away home because I looked so ill!! I'm very pale and I like having a bit colour about me.
Make up routine in the morning for me is foundation, powder, lipstick, blusher, eyeshadow (grey normally) and mascara and then top coat for lipstick so it stays on all day (Gotta love Max Factor's lippie). I've got the timing down to a fine art though

I personally wear make up. A little eyeliner, mascara and vaseline as lipgloss/balm.
If I'm going out i'll add eye shadow and maybe some blusher.
Concealer aswell if I have a spot ![]()

I love this topic, glad to loose my forum virginity on something so close to my heart. I am personally a make up junky, I don't believe in wearing too much, the orange look is just yucky! But I love make up, buying it, applying it and generally appreciating it on others! Love the stuff!

I own a lot of make up. I'm usually the designated make up artist on nights out ![]()

I love all the colours and sparkly bits in make-up. I have certain things that become favourites for a while too, but sometimes they get discontinued.
I
tend to use subtle special effects rather than heavy false ones.
One of my mascaras was clear with little holographic sparkly bits in it and I used to wear it during daytime when I was working and after meetings where the sun shone into the room (boring ones of course) I often had people come up to me afterwards to see what was making me TWINKLE.....I loved that... and I was sometimes introduced as " the original glitter babe" haha!! I use special effects in my art work as well as on my face.........
02.04.2009, 07:14 quote
Women should wear make up not let the make up wear them..nothing worse IMO than seeing the foundation line, and big blobs of blusher.
I only started wearing a little make up for nights out in my thirties, think I had out grown being a bit of a tomboy by then, but like most women,I like to accentuate my better features, such as my eyes with mascara and eye shadow, but still use very natural shades.
My daughter insisted I had a makeover a few months back, so had the whole works slapped on my kisser, couldnt wait to remove it though. When I looked in the mirror, I could only see a clown looking back at me.
