When you look at a profile what type of photos do you hope to see? and how do you decide which pictures to put up of yourself?

I like to see *a clear, well lit portrait *one with the person in an environment that shows something personal about them *a full length picture and may be something a little more creative or humorous.
AND most importantly, up-to-date-images or if they're old pics, share the truth about how old they are and if you've had a dramtic change in your appearance.

I agree, I like to see nice clear pictures. Full length ones I'm not too bothered about actually. And obviously a fairly up to date one as well.

Pictures don't really matter, the worst looking person can look half decent on a photo. So, environment would be the best picture.

Me on the other hand, i only do non smiling mug shots. go figure? full length photos are a pita to do

Yeah, clear headshots are the best. Makes a clean kill.

I hate pixelated pics and ones without a face. Also I don't see the point of having a pic of you with the ex.

I got an image (when I read Raven's comment) of her getting Andrew to practise in front of the mirror...
'No, that's not right!'
'Corners a little higher...'
'Beam those eyes.'
'Yes, Yes, just hold that there. Perfect!'
'No, don't be silly! You don't look like Graham Norton!'

I came across a load of rules about the pics in some woman's blog, but I didn't bookmark it.
It suggested about 5 and there were reasons for having all of them. A smiley head-shot, a serious (other mood) head-shot, a posed full-length, one showing you in a group (to show you are social animal, have friends and not some sad loner; it also said if there were other people in it they should not be as attractive as you! ), one showing you involved in some activity (say a sport).
Few people go that far, but I did find one American's profile who must have read (and followed exactly) all the rules. She certainly sounded like someone who knew exactly what she wanted, so maybe it was her blog!

I think the photos should be clear. There are many designed or chosen so that the person cannot be identified. They are dark, or fuzzy, or have something covering their face, etc. And - if they are - I have to wonder why and I would avoid.
As others have said, the pic should be up-to-date or at least show when it was taken.
It should be the right way up.
And it should not show Olympic-class gurning. That doesn't convey a zany sense of humour to me, but maybe it would to others.
Ones showing young ladies abusing chairs or beds should be banned! Laughing
Ones giving prominence to something other than the person should also be banned!
Am I more interested in your dog? Or your plane, boat, car, derelict building, etc?
Anyone showing too much flesh should have a damned good reason! Laughing
Like the lady with all the tattoos! Laughing
Loved that!

Personally I think too much emphasis is put on pics, and maybe proves that looks do matter over personality with a lot of people. Pics do not always show if you will be attracted to someone in real life. People I have been attracted to I have met, have had fairly unattractive pics. There's always surprises Very Happy

Problem is people with good pics are often a disappointment when met, it can be embarrassing if you are disappointed or indeed don't recognise the person. So is probably better to have normal, average pics..but then might cut down on the people that will want to meet you. A shallow aspect of net dating.

I have probably lost out to people putting up maybe not particularity honest pics, and does amaze me that some women probably encourage men to put up not very honest pics. From what I have seen anyway.

Then again there is the problem of people that dont look good in pics, no matter what ones they put up .....where as some people do.

i think you can tell a lot about someone from the pictures they chose to upload, after all you only get to add a few and everyone has hundreds on there computers. so if the picture you see has been chosen as one of the best out of hundreds! if its not very good then what are the rest like? as said already good clear picture is nice but an action shot is a classic! if a girls photos are all of her half naked lying on a bed or bent over something then its obvious that shes looking for attention, if theres a nice bit of clevage showing dont get me wrong its great but same again (attention) i prefer the ones that leave something to the imagination! i like to think i have a good judge of personality and its often very easy to tell what kind of person someone is from there photos. without the weirdos and hussy's it would be boring so keep on uploading for the entertainment!
