Have had several possible scam messages over the last few days....or am I wrong?
Either starting with Hello Pretty or Angel & my pet hate Hello Dear.
just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same thing
08.03.2008, 17:15 quote
Yep, I just had another one 2 minutes ago.
I'm not sure if it really is a scammer or not, but if it is at least they have pretty good english tis time.
I'm gonna reply though, cos it is rude not to, I am sure that you can imagine the sort of reply they will be getting.....
(thanking you possibly for your timing to increasingly be writing me a message, I am wanting loving with animals as wells from people and will forwarding many other testing result from local vets.....)

I seem to be free of those kinds of messages lately,m but only on this site. It might be because I went through the list of countries and blocked loads of them, so that may be helping.
The bit that gets me is the 'over the top sickly romantics' but sadly that seems to be the talk that has conned loads of genuine people looking for love. Sad really.

The problem is that they sign up with a UK location somehow, so blocking countries is pointless, I have had 6 or 7 in the last couple of days & the messages all read along the same lines, copy & paste comes to mind, they're probably all sat in internet cafes in Nigeria or such like.....

Not sure bout that, but to be blunt, I have little sympathy for anyone who gets fleeced by some scammer - the rule is NEVER send any money to ANYONE, no exceptions.

Yeah, it was on the front page of the West Briton the other week.
The woman was an artist who was selling her artwork online.
Someone sent her a cheque for more than the price of the picture and asked her to send the balance to someone in London who would, in turn, arrange for collection and transit of the goods.
She banked the cheque, which cleared and she withdrew the money and sent on the difference, only to find a week later the bank took back the money as it was a stolen cheque-book.
Some people get reeled in really easy!!!!!!

Sadly, a lot of people who use dating sites are at their most vulnerable when they sign up, and are easy prey to the glib scammers who target individuals rather than 'bulk scam'.

Should be strung up and shot.............
But they will probably win some 'Nigerian Entepreneur Of the Year Award'.....
08.03.2008, 20:06 quote
A lot of it goes on, sadly mostly through dating sites like this, I have been asked for money about 6 or 7 time on this one. A couple of weeks ago on TV there was a Tonight programme on, all about dating site scammers, It showed raids on internet cafes in Nigeria, it was very interesting....I was having a few drinks at the time & I had the funniest of thoughts & said to my friend "wouldn't be funny if I saw my pic on TV" we were in stitches, she was thinking the same thing, haha....

Incidentally, one of the tell-tale signs of a 'fake' profile (although obviously it is likely that a genuine member would have these dislikes too!), is
I dislike...: gossip
lies
dishonest
especially when used together. I've noticed that these dislikes are often used together on female profiles, usually African 'women' with their location in other countries (often some small town in rural US or Ireland).
