Not a 'scam' as such, just getting fed up with their underhanded ways.
Yesterday I had a knock on the door.
Bloke with a BG identity card and clipboard.
Him: I'm looking for Mr Murphy
Me: Mr Murphy lives in flat 5B, this is number 5.
Him: Oh I've got him down for number 5.
Me: No, 5B. Upstairs (shutting door)....
Him: Before you go, I need to talk to you about your gas meter tariff
Me: Why? Hang on....you're just touting for business aren't you?
Him: No no not at all. I just need to know if you are a BG customer
Me: No I'm not. (shutting door again)
Him: Do you have a bank account? What's your name? I can get you a really good deal....
SLAM!!!
I wouldn't mind so much, but two weeks ago.....knock on door, another BG guy.
Him: Please can you help me with my enquiries, How long have you lived here?
Me: 2 years. Why?
Him: Ah, well the previous tenant asked to change over to BG....are you are BG customer YET?
Me: no
Him: Could I have your name please?
Me: Why do you want my name?
Him: We started processing the changeover with the previous tenant so all I need is your name and your bank details and away we go.......
SLAM!!!!

LOL, this ones easy, if they ask for any details off you including your name, bank details etc especially before saying anything about transferring you to BG (or any other company that comes knocking!) they are in direct violation of their sales directions, so ask for their name and tell them you work for energywatch... you'll soon find you will NEVER be bothered by that company again as your address goes on their "red list" meaning it will not be called on again!

Yeah right not a scam, is that why you’ve only partly filled out the form. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Btw, I was rocketgirl, cuz you're new you might not know that and wonder what i'm on about!
