well it seems my first instincts were right
my "friend" who asked for money does in fact seem to be fake the reasons being as follows;-
1)On our last conversation he told me he now has a plane and that he was going to fly from canada to london in a 4 seater plane!!
2)When asked how he managed to get his address taken off Google earth he went off line abruptly and i havent heard from him since!!
I know none of you are probably interested but i just thought i would tell you anyway so thanks for all your comments and advice on this matter

He gave you his home address? Did you tell him you were going to look him up on that google earth? If not, maybe he just felt stalked...I would!
Although, it does sound a bit dodgy, someone who owns their own plane shouldn't be needing to ask an online acquaintance for money, no matter the future possibilities between you, i mean shouldnt he have asked his bank for a loan or get cash off his credit card or summat? People with a private jet arent usually that skint, i wouldn't have thought....

Yeh he gave me his home address to prove that he was for real!! ha ha
I did not look it up on google earth until after he asked for money and i became suspicious of him.
Anyway all done and dusted now and i have learnt my lesson!

Maybe I am just not that type of person.. but I never understand why folk get talking to people from far away (as far as dating/relationships goes) and then wonder why it all goes wrong. I know someone will have an anecdote about someone they know met someone online from abroad and now they are happily married or something... but in this day and age, lets face it, its fairly odds on that its going to be a scammer.

If it looks too good to be true.. its not true!!!

There's nothing wrong with having friends from overseas of course (I regularly send emails back and forth to the Sheriff in Louisiana) but I think if some man (or woman) comes on strong and says you are the light of my life, I love you, blah blah blah... you just have to wake up and smell the bloomin coffee!!!

One would have to look at your own reasons for being so vulnerable (stupid?) to believe all the crap.

its very easy to detect scammers and spammers spammers is simple as they tend to repeat there selfs and spam mails ect...

1) Be suspicious of these people! THE PERSON IS young and SUSPICIOUSLY ATTRACTIVE. If you are, for example, 40 years old, it would be suspicious if a 20 year old contacts you. It can happen but most of the time people tend to stick to their age range.

2) THE PERSON FALLS IN LOVE WITH YOU VERY QUICKLY, USUALLY WITHIN A FEW WEEKS.

3) THE PERSON NEEDS MONEY for a visa or FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES TO VISIT YOU. The person may mention that a local travel agency is handling the travel details. YOU SHOULD ALSO KNOW THAT A PERSON FROM OUTSIDE YOUR COUNTRY CANNOT GET A VISA WITHOUT THE INVOLVEMENT OF YOUR COUNTRY'S EMBASSY. Your risk of getting scammed can be reduced to zero if you simply avoid sending any form of financial assistance unless you actually meet the other person and determine that the situation (or intention) is legitimate.

4) The person lost his/her job and needs medical support and money. The person uses an Internet cafe and needs money to keep in touch with you. Dont be surprised if in the so-called manager of this Internet Cafe contacts you.

5) THE PERSON HAS NO POSTAL ADDRESS NOR PHONE NUMBER. QUESTIONS ABOUT PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN VERIFY ARE NOT VERY WELCOME AND THE PERSON WILL TRY TO AVOID THOSE QUESTIONS BY ACTING OFFENDED OR BY SIMPLY IGNORING YOUR QUESTIONS.
