I my opinion the following points should be considered as a suspect spam, scam or dodgy and should be treated with extreme caution:

1) If anybody gives you there email or any other information ie phone numbers, web address, messenger Id's etc especially on first introduction.

2) I have noticed that some profiles do seem to be too good to be true ie a picture of a very beautiful lady...almost model like:)

3) Some people say they are from the UK but after reading there profiles and maybe corresponding with them you discover that they are from another country! Watch out for inconsistent profiles!

3) Profiles that are not consistent with there location in the UK, for example: I'm from Wales just to the West of Liverpool?

4) I have also noticed that the scammers and such are getting more and more inviting with there profile descriptions. Sometimes I get a sneaky suspicion that it has been tailor made just for me:)

this is good....reading..

i was a victim of a scam.

i was talking to someone from match.com

for about 3 weeks.. it was weird because it was
all peom stuff. and i love you and worship you..but it was not real conversation as in what they did.

something like going to a bar and the woman talking from a book to me....

so here is the scam..

i met a girl through match.com
her profile was for leicester, uk then it turns out she live in south africa. so i just play along. in a few weeks it her birthday so i know what is coming. i bet she going to ask me for money. so one week after her birthday i get this message
"Hi darling, I hope you are well.. I have just received a letter from my ISP informing me that my internet connection will expire in two days. I am confused as to how to raise the money as they normally require me to make a payment of 6months once off. I do not want to discuss this with my mum because i understand how poor her finance has been lately and she spent a lot of money for my birthday, that is why i have decided to let you know about it to see if you would be able to assist me with whatever amount you can.. I need to pay a total of 342pounds approximately. I am not asking you to give me everything but like i said, whatever amount you can afford will go a long way.. I hope you will email me soon to let me know what you think.. I love you. xx Portia. xx"

this is the reply i got when i basically said no.

"Don't call me a fool Ian, if you don't want to help me.. you can just say it.. and i won't hold it against you.. There are a million and one things i could ask you money for.. if my internet connection was as cheap as 300rands monthly i wont have asked you for 3,420rands. I am not stupid and i won't trade my love for you for money. I feel really bad to have asked you for money"
i think with all scammers who don't give you there telphone number or facebook account. and the images they send you are from 30k to 60 k in size and look like facebook files. hijacked from someones account including holiday pics and birthdays.
so be careful...ian )

And it's not even real women - lots of Nigerian/Ghanian students sitting in a huge computer room and scamming loads of people at the same same.

Hey guys, everyday i get emails from scammers, I have started recognizing them and emailing them funny little sayings like, it would be nice if you really could use the english language properly, that way I wouldnt know right off that your a scammer and not from the US. Oh, and if on their profile they list two states as their home, I really have fun! But, I have been scammed so many times since I have been on that I only trust my flirtbox friends, when email is involved. No money given mind you. But for the most part, they tell you right off the bat they are in love with you. Clear sign if you have not met them in person, and your going into 3-4 weeks if chatting. It is only going to continue, because there are men and women who are not well informed!
